But they breached the Capitol, had bombs, and zip ties to take hostages.

I can't believe anybody thinks this is anything other than some bad decision making by a handful of hooligans, incited by some professional instigators. Doesn't anybody else just find the whole thing amusing?

I admit I do find some dark humor in it since they were absolutely incompetent, but they brought in restraints with the intent of killing mike pence and made members of our highest government bodies legitimately fear for their lives. They really could have killed people and if they killed the right ones they could have altered the balance of power.

There’s nothing amusing about a gallows and the confederate flag.

I find it tragic, not amusing. Armed domestic terrorists overtook the heart of our nation’s government and literally sh!t in it. And made it look easy, emboldening nut jobs worldwide.

Also tragic is the sad state of this nation’s educational standards, that so many people were so easily fooled and manipulated.

There was supposed to be a million MAGA march too, which ended up being a trickle.

People can read anything they want on the internet and get scared about it. There will be a few disrupters and that's about it. The police and military presence is gong to be off the charts at inauguration. A little wimpy AR15 isn't going to stand a chance against an Abrams tank.

They were chanting, "hang Mike Pence" over and over in the Capitol.

What kind of person describes a attempted coup in those words? Five people died (4 rioters plus a Capitol police officer), the democratic transition of power violently interrupted, elected officials (including the vice president) unharmed only because the rioters were unable to get to them, and this person finds it amusing?

Nothing amusing here...more details are going to come out about who they planned to take as hostages, etc. The Capitol police may not have been able to keep people out of the building, but they did protect the members. The whole thing could have been much worse.

+1 million. You think the children and wife of the deceased Capitol Police officer find this amusing.

It was an inside job.

And if it was, they will have people on the inside helping them the next time they decide to riot as well.

Well...several members have talked about how they sheltered in place for hours on end, at times with insurrectionists trying to break down the doors, and no one ever checked on them or ensured their safety. They literally had to come out and see if the coast was clear. No communication from Capitol Police, and certainly no protection during the occupation.

Apparently he did not have children. It’s still not amusing.

I’d guess that’s the point, or part of it, anyway. These are nasty, but probably not terribly creative people.

No. I do not find it amusing. If you find it amusing you are a sociopath.

I agree that (thankfully) last week's mob was disorganized and incompetent. But, I don't find it amusing in the slightest. Their intent was vile, they were spurred on by leaders at the very top of our government, and many members of the federal police were either negligent or complicit. 5 people died, including a police officer. Not even a little bit funny.

+1

I also don’t think any Jewish people thought armed mobs with the slogan 6 million was not enough is amusing at all. And I’m sure no black people think gallows on federal land is funny either.

The Capitol building is not the heart of our government. Congress is the heart of our government. Sadly, these deluded fools thought taking hostages would work. The would need to execute a sufficient number to prevent a majority decision. I don't think they actually understood this if they planned to take hostages. The police forces did their job. They secured the democracy and not the pointless symbol.
