In the case of state cup Va Rush. VAR apparently can also mean Va Revolution. I believe some of the Va Revolution players and coaches came from TSJFCV when they lost their boys teams. What is TSJFCV United South (FFC)? |
| VRSC is used for Va revolution as well. |
Lots of FCV boys went to a new club - Players Soccer Academy |
My daughter has told me about this club and I’m thinking we’re probably going to make a switch for nxt season. They hold tryouts Dec 3,4,5 and I saw they’re more affordable than what I’m currently paying. |
FFC is Fredericksburg FC. |
| All these teams suck. State cup past U13 is a joke. All the good players are in MLS, ECNL, or GA past that age. |
There are no Virginia MLS teams, the best ECNL boys teams, Arlington and McLean (okay, not Richmond) are entered in State Cup. No comment on the Girls side. |
VDA didn't enter either. But I agree it is not true that all the teams suck. Arlington, Alexandria, Skyline, Legacy are all good clubs. |

I find it amusing that when another local Club swept most of the boys age groups last year, you were silent. |
I do not think McLean has entered any of their ECNL teams. They may have a few ECNL players "guest" on the state cup teams but that was to gi ve they players on their 27 player roster some play time. I do not think any of their top ECNL players are doing state cup. |
ECNL clubs are entered but I don't think it is their ECNL team. McLean has entered their green teams |
I'm the PP. You are correct that I was silent last year but that was because I only discovered this board during covid when I was trying to discover information about what was going on wrt soccer. That said (1) You are incorrect if you are asserting that I am biased towards or against one club or another. I was merely picking up on the earlier references to Arlington in this thread and thought it was helpful to highlight the teams to show that a sweep was still possible. (2) Arlington are far from achieving a sweep or anything close to it My guess is that, as well as they have done so far, they end up winning one or two finals only. Still - it's fun to watch how they do - no? (3) Which club swept the boys age groups last year? As far as I can see SOCA (now Skyline and not local) won two age groups and no other club won more than one. The local clubs with victories were Alexandria and Arlington (one each), with the other age group going to Beach (not local). Looking at the losing finalists the only local clubs I see are Arlington twice and Herndon. So unless I'm looking at completely the wrong results - it appears that Arlington had the best results locally last year as well. No? |
It was MacLean's ECNL teams playing - no matter what they called the teams on the entry forms. |
Traditionally State Cup was a competition for non ECNL and Non MLS next/GA teams. I guess that could change but I suspect a lot fewer teams will enter if the top ECNL/GA/MLS next teams start throwing themselves in the mix. |
