Not emotionally impacted by current events

Y’all realize bad things have always happened right? Life now is better than it has been for 99.999% of human history.

Too many people let the media tell them what to feel and think.

I’m with OP.

I am interested in politics but I don't think I ever learned about them as much as I have in the past four years. I'm not a nut who cries during coffee commercials but I do feel empathy. I try to shake it off but something feels different this time.

But I don't use the media to tell me how to think. I use it for information. I evaluate the information through other sources. I recognize the difference between bias and outright fantasy. If a plane flies into a building you can tell me any way you want to or not tell me at all. Doesn't change the fact that a plane flew into a building.

I'm not in a constant state of fear and panic. I still laugh, watch movies, listen to music, enjoy time with family etc.

I am very , very concerned about what is going, on and think the country is headed in the wrong direction.

I feel like I have PTSD from seeing all the police killings. It's like watching snuff films to see the police kill people like that. I don't go in for things like that. I found it traumatic. I had to turn the channel when they showed those police snuff films over and over and over.

It's been a seriously traumatic few months.

Sorry but i had never seen a person kneel on another person's neck until they were dead. That was new to me.

No concern at all about our rights being in jeopardy with a new conservative justice to be appointed? No concern for whole cities on fire, businesses and homes burning, innocents shot by police, children growing up fearing for their lives? Well, go back to nursing your 5 year old and counting your millions. There will always be a stupid bourgeoise who can’t see past the tips of their smug noses. One of these days the revolution might just punch you in the face. And then maybe you’ll wake up.

oh you're so uppity with your liberal nonsense that you called the PP's plants taking up space and go on to decry environmental wreckage???? L O L

I was bothered by nuclear war. I saw the movie The Day After. No one cares or talks about nuclear war or where the bombs are buried or acid rain.

The media likes to toy with your emotions and get you agitated. Then they move on to the next topic.

You shouldn’t feel traumatized b/c these things aren’t happening to you.

You should be feeling something though.

Yes, you should feel like you need to check your privilege

It's too bad that you had to see it to be impacted by it. I hope you realize that this (and worse) has been going on for decades. It's just that now everyone has a phone to record it and 100s of media outlets to show it. Black people have been complaining about police violence (and death) since...like...forever.

Yes, I get it. We're all busy. But if you had to constantly think about how these bad things will impact your kids in the future...when they're adults. Then you would probably pay more attention. A Black parent with little kids has to constantly think about how they would feel it it were their son/daughter being the target of sexist or racist actions. And that doesn't even include the violence going on in the city (or as the media calls it, "black on black" crime).

OP you sound like my Mil. She’s incredibly selfish and lacks emotion....essentially just cares about herself and her golden child (my dh).
