The return of the feminine business attire uniform

It’s pretty close to what Elizabeth Warren wears but I am fat so I prefer a longer cardigan over her more structured, shorter jackets.

It’s like a suit but more comfortable, and it’s terrific for air travel.

I almost never wear a skirt or heels unless I’m at a meeting in a hotel, where I don’t have to go outside. But, I’m really tall and I know some shorter women like the height boost from heels. And obviously I’m not a litigator or anything. But I find with this outfit and a scarf I’m formal enough for most settings.

Thank you for mentioning Elizabeth Warren who is a much better example of the uniform philosophy than Pelosi. That is so clearly what she is doing. I think all her shells are black as well as the pants and the only variation is the color of the jacket.

Do not know about the ones above but the fuchsia one she wore for her swearing in as Speaker of the House was Akris.

Warren is definitely the most prominent example of the uniform. A noticeable difference between her and Pelosi is also that Warren’s is clearly about convenience and not having to worry about clothing while I would assume Pelosi’s falls more under the philosophy of find a silhouette that works and buy it in every color. If you couldn’t care less about clothes (like myself), that is not a fun process and the Wareen method is much more useful.

I suspect Pelosi's is custom made in every color by a seamstress.

Jackets are the most expensive part, so for those of us on budgets, its easier to swap out the shell/blouse and just have a few jackets.

I'm now over 50 and not as thin as I once was, and I've found one style of ponte pants from Talbots, and a particular blouse from Ann Taylor works for me. Bonus that the blouses are all washable but don't have that awful look. I generally wear with cardigans in the winter. I have a couple of fancy suit jackets for when I need to be more formal, which isn't often. However, right now, I'm in the office but we have no in person meetings, so it's washable chinos (again from Talbots -- they fit me), washable blouse and good eye makeup (as we're in masks a lot).

She’s old and has been wearing pantyhose for decades. She probably also prefers how her legs look in hose at this age. It really is not that big of a deal to put them on.

This is me too. Pelosi has 25 years on me but I’ve always been in a workplace where pantyhose are the norm so at this point, they’re absolutely no bother and they make my legs look way better than they otherwise would.

Because I hate pants and love dresses? Not OP

I hate her style though. Much prefer Pelosi's look

She matches her masks to her outfits. The masks are from Donna Lewis.

Same. Pelosi has style. But I understand warren is dressed for practicality.

Yeah, not a fan of Warrens look but I can appreciate the practicality of it. It’s also a reflection of her no fuss no muss attitude.

Pelosi is my inspiration though. She’s how a wealthier, esteemed older woman should dress. Impeccable color selection, color and fit. Great accessories. Always a touch overdressed. I love it.

I largely wear a uniform of sheath dresses (different necklines though) and blouses plus pencil skirts. Keep a pair of nude and black pumps in my office. Rarely wear pants as I like how dressed and skirts are a touch more feminine.

It is impressive that Pelosi can wear heels at age 80 and walk down steps without using a banister.

Hilary's pantsuits looked awful. They looked like she bought them at K Mart.

If you stand for long periods the support pantyhose really help with leg achiness at the end of the day.

A uniform -- ugh. I went to Catholic school.
