What an angry thread. Did you board your windows, OP? If so, you should be fine.

Um, they are just prying the boards off with tools. Duh. We are in a state of total lawless anarchy.

But everyone says insurance will cover it, right? Why bother then?

Also there's a shortage of plywood since everyone else is boarding up.

What business is it by the way? I'd like to never patronize it again.

You are an idiot. Those who seek to appropriate the protests for their own purposes use the cover of darkness to hide their vandalism and stealing. Why do protesters need to protest after dark? Do they encourage criminal behavior?

Sounds like you don't care about why people are protesting. If you want them to stop, think about enacting police reforms wherever you live.

How do you explain protests downtown by the white house but looting at Friendship Heights? It isn't the protests that are your problem.

And where's your concern for innocent people's lives? Sounds like you don't care about police brutality. Maybe you'd like a visit from some overeager cops.

Sorry, no. I care about why people are protesting and I care about protecting the livelihoods of small business owners and the economic viability of this city. I actually can do both simultaneously. It has been demonstrated that criminals hide out with the protesters and use the crowd to cover their activities. Protesters have been begging the criminals who hide among them to stop vandalizing and looting. A curfew allows peaceful protest and community safety. Why do you want the protests to be undermined by criminals?

Damage was worse back then due to widespread arson, but there were areas near 14th and U looted in the 60s that did not recover for 30 years. Is that really what Bowser wants for DC now?

Over the weekend, I ran into a middle-aged AA man outside a neighborhood store that had been vandalized the night before. He was angry and upset by both the police brutality and the vandalism. And he supported the protestors. But I suppose you would say he couldn’t possibly hold all those opinions at the same time?

The looting is really damaging the cause. You can tell your kids all kinds of enlightened things, but what they see on the nightly news is young African American males violently shattering glass & stealing. The looting needs to end.

How much looting was there last night? There was a curfew that was ignored, but police didn't attack the protestors. See the difference?

How about the business community line up against police brutality.

Over the weekend, I ran into an older AA man who said you made up your story.

For business they must have riot insurance. For homeowners you are not covered if you house is on fire due to arson-riot. You will need to add this rider so is lotter burn down you home or damage it and break windows you have mo coverage.

So the police attacking protestors caused the CVS in Friendship Heights to be looted?

I thought it's only white supremacists behind all the mayhem and looting?

Why would you say that?

Any idiot that says “insurance will cover it” also thinks “the government” should pay for their healthcare.

Did a curfew prevent it?

So you believe every AA person believes what you believe and reacts they way you think they should?
