Looting DC tonight

Anonymous
The looting of any remaining businesses was authorized tonight. 11pm curfew like the disastrous Sunday night. As a business owner, I’m expecting to lose my storefront. Seems like the district should pay for it. Totally not ok.

DC Government says that is why you have insurance.

Curfew is a crackdown on peaceful protest with a legitimate cause. The people looting are a-holes who are taking advantage.

What business is it by the way? I'd like to never patronize it again.

Protesters have all day, or until curfew to protest. How is that infringing on their rights. Where do you live? I'd like to smash your windows?

You are an idiot. Those who seek to appropriate the protests for their own purposes use the cover of darkness to hide their vandalism and stealing. Why do protesters need to protest after dark? Do they encourage criminal behavior?

That's not how freedom works. You don't get to or a time limit on it.

The police can handle looters the same as they handle crime in general (i.e., not well). A curfew isn't going to help you. But if they police don't create chaos by providing protestors then they can focus more on actual crime.

Looting is not an individual crime, bit crowd behavior

After tonight, DC will have no businesses left. It’s horrible.

What?

'A curfew isn't going to help you': Have you looked at the arrests from Monday and Tuesday nights compared to the weekend?

Sounds like you don't care about why people are protesting. If you want them to stop, think about enacting police reforms wherever you live.

How do you explain protests downtown by the white house but looting at Friendship Heights? It isn't the protests that are your problem.

And where's your concern for innocent people's lives? Sounds like you don't care about police brutality. Maybe you'd like a visit from some overeager cops.

Police and other LEOs attacked protestors, but not last night. Stop attacking people and life is much better.

So far protests have killed many innocent people. There are other threads you can go to to see those disgusting videos. Predominately Black Men dying as well. So thank you for telling me what I should be concerned about.

What an angry thread. Did you board your windows, OP? If so, you should be fine.

There are ass holes besides looters. Look in the mirror Spanky

Business owner here also. I'm pissed. The "but just use insurance" is not an answer. Your business is shut down for days or weeks doing repairs and replacing what was looted, and then your insurance premiums go up. How is this fair?

I'm all for protesting, as long as it's peaceful. Why is looting OK?
