Well that is an unusual reaction from both kids. Most kids have a sense when something is really wrong and they get scared and a parent falling to the ground and then being unresponsive would be one of those times. They might think it was a joke for a couple seconds but would soon realize that it isn't and something is wrong. At that point they might not be sure what to do or get panicked or freeze or not do what they should do but I can't imagine under what circumstances they would punch the parent in the face and jump back and forth over them.
Something is wrong with their age appropriate ability to perceive the world around them. |
Wow. An odd situation for sure.
Guess this is a learning experience for all of you. A good time to teach your kids what to do in case of an emergency, how to be empathetic when others are hurt, etc. Hope you’re feeling better, op! |
Uh...I think they both need an evaluation by a psychiatrist.
And you need a physical or something bc I don’t see how your passing out was bc a kid tugged in your scarf. |
That is not normal behavior from an 8-year-old. At all. |
Umm my 3yo would even been panicked if I was unresponsive.
My 8yo would have dialed for help either using my phone, his iPad or Alexa. Something is very wrong here. I find it even more odd that you are making excuses for your 8yo. I don’t think this is about you being hurt about their reaction. All 3 of you should be evaluated. You passed out and you think it is just a freak accident???! |
If you roughhouse with your kids, and if you play games with them and joke around (including playing a scarf-around-the-neck game), then that's what they thought you were doing. I guess most of the other posters never play with their kids. |
Is hitting a routine thing for them? Does another caretaker (eg their father) hit them? |
I play hard with my kids, wrestle, tumble, toss, joke and all and they would never punch or jump on me if I were passed out. Sorry, OP's kids need ... something. |
+1 my kid is 8 and that would never, ever happen. |
If playing with your kids means choke-out style games involving strangulation, that yeah, no. |
I never allow my kids to play with scarves or anything around the neck but we do play "knocked out" with eyes closed. Have your kids ever seen someone who was out? Have you? |
How long were you unconscious?
The only way this is even remotely acceptable if it was like a minute or less where kids didn’t realize you were unconscious. |
My guess is you were only out for 30 sec or so.
Is 8 yr old autistic? Sound like maybe. |
Yikessss |
