So, are they going to be only doing site selection for the whole year?

Entire CG? 700+ kids?? Who would then attend CG?

It's only a high school. No new elementary school. Split articulation to the new HAS is likely.

That would be too many kids IMO.

I guess College Gardens could all shift to Gaithersburg High and then a chunk of Gaithersburg (who is closer) would go to Crown. CG is just a big chunk of RM though..about 1/3.

There is no need to do site selection because the site is already selected.

Projections indicate enrollment at Gaithersburg
High School will exceed capacity by 200 seats or more
by the end of the six-year planning period. Expenditures are
recommended in the six-year period to open a new high
school on the Crown Farm site to address overutilization in
the mid-county region. An FY 2019 appropriation for planning
is recommended to begin the architectural design for this new
school. Once the planning is complete, a recommendation
will be included in the next full CIP regarding the phasing
and completion date for the opening of this new high school.

Interesting. Wonder where the site actually is. When I go to Crown, it seems like most spaces are now taken over by homes.

Is that the one between Decoverly and Omega?

The school site is "neighborhood six" - at the northwest corner of Omega Dr and Research Blvd

Other than RM, Wooton,QO and Gaithersburg, are there any other HS that would be affected by the Crown Site? There are so many residential construction in the area near crown( other than the crown homes). I hope they are going to use the correct projections for this new school.

All current kids will keep going to CG. They can simply attend CF rather than RM in their high school. It happens in many places.

Nah, it's not 1/3 by any stretch. RM cluster has 2800-2900 elementary kids right now.

Including WG, CG will have around 700 kids.

All the developments will be happening in RM#5, Beall and Falls grove. Very little in CG. That means you will have over 3200-3400 kids in RM cluster and 700 in CG.

Putting CG in either Gaithersburg or Crown Farm will be a great way to not have RM over crowded. RM is short of space by around 200 seats right now. With all the growth , you can have 200-300 extra children in few years in RM cluster. Taking CG way will leave RM in a good shape.

This way WG will be happy by going to back to CG, RM cluster will be happy, Gaith or CF will get one school with IB. It's a good way to go. If numbers don't work then keep WG in Beall and then only send rest of the CG .

CG in Gaithersburg will also balance FARMs. CG has a very low FARMs.

I assume that WG will prefer to stay at Beall if the options are traveling so much farther to GH or CH...most of their arguments to stay will be mute after having been gone for a number of years.
