Predictions for crown high school

I can assure you if certain Wootton neighborhoods get moved to Crown or Gaithersburg, they will indeed go down. Especially Gaithersburg. Not only because of school, but how far it could take to get there

And so therefore MCPS shouldn't move these neighborhoods?

Let's start bussing the Somerset kids to Gaithersburg High School. If Diversity is now the #1 goal in all schools and not geography or neighborhood feel, then it shouldn't just be just at boundary issue meetings for new schools. Let every school in on it.

I would send my kids to either school in a heart beat, but for the future I'm not sure I would send DC to wootton because of how(not to be racist just for the vibe of the school) asian it will be. The projections show it will become more asian than white in 10 years(check MCPS planning website). Not to be racist at all but I do want to send my kids to a more diverse school, not a majority one-race school. And, the school is WAY to competitive and a toxic environment. Not to say that RM is a little sketchy, but sometimes it is good to expose your kid to stuff when they are in high school in my opinion.

Yes, 18yr old illegal alien freshman having sex with 15yr old freshman in the hallways and streaming it live is always fun to expose them to. I hear MS-13 have a lot of school spirit too.

Would it be better if a 17 yr old wealthy white prep boy attempted to rape a girl at a party? There is no MS13 at RM. If there is, then Churchill as a 54 mob gang problem. And if RM is terrible, then so is Wootton for having parents who allow under age drinking and letting them lose on the public driving while under the influence.

I'd rather my kid be a witness to some teens having sex than dying in a car cash due to some pretty bad parenting in that cluster. Didn't that same parent organize a spring break party in Mexico where the drinking age limit is 18?

New poster and yes there is. Not nearly as much as Gaithersburg, but yes there is. So far it hasn't been an issue directly at the school though

QO and Wootton are similar academically(both top ranked schools) and wealth-wise(look at the houses, cars, and home prices in either district) but the environment of the two is drastically different. While Wootton is known for being very competitive, academically inclined, and "toxic", QO is known for being more about school spirit and being well-rounded with top academics as well. It's all about the type of environment and community you want for DC!

Wootton/RM and QO are not similar academically. QO is very mediocre, too rah rah without much to rah rah about and there is far too much emphasis on sports. It reminds me of the public school back when I was growing up in a fly over state. The racial problems at the QO school are also a real issue, RM has much kinder students. Wootton and RM are nerdier. They have far more international families than QO. I've also heard that Wootton is only competitive if you are academically competitive. If you aren't then its not an issue.

If your kids listen to NPR go to RM or Wootton. If your kids watch the Disney channel all day long go to QO.

Everything is true except the part about academics being mediocre. I have plenty of friends who have sent their DCs there and some have gone to Ivies and other elite schools. Being ranked #5 in the state of Maryland and 243rd nationally and still having a relatively diverse student body clearly shows QO isn't "too rah rah". I would definitely send DC there any day. They happen to have excellent athletics as well and a great community as well. I honestly think Wootton parents are jealous of RM and QO because of how much of a community and how well-rounded they are and that they spent the extra money to buy an uglier house for "better" schools. DD goes to WJ, and I would send her to RM or QO but not Wootton, just because of how nasty I've heard it is and the lack of community that exists. Plus not to be rude but all the neighborhoods except Willows of Potomac and Fallsmead are so nasty imo.

i don't think RM and QO parents really care. They know their schools are some of the best in the country and that's all that matters. Their DCs are getting a good education. Wootton parents are the ones that care so much about which schools are better since they specifically chose to live in the cluster for the high rating; I know for a fact no one chose Wootton because they liked buying a pretty over-priced 70s house far out in Rockville when they could go bigger for less elsewhere. Just like the Churchill crowd who live off of Tuckerman.

Nobody is talking about putting kids from Somerset on the bus to Gaithersburg HS. Whereas MCPS has already said in the CIP that Wootton will be part of the Crown boundary study. Or do you think that B-CC should be part of the Crown boundary study?
