She currently goes to an HGC where almost everyone applied so I assume Monday will be tough.

Actually the admitted students day will be harder for her...Just want you to be aware...But she will be fine next year.

regardless of acceptation/rejection, it does not reveal any privacy by disclosing median acceptance scores.

the median scores may tell us if the tests were easier than those of previous years.

At least at Eastern and Takoma, open houses for admitted students are at night. Hopefully, your dc's HGC teachers have asked kids not to discuss admissions at school.

Oh come on, this is silly. These are 10-11 year olds. Of course they are going to talk. Some areas do not believe in this kind of competition at such a young age and giving kids special designations. Not speaking for or against (I have mixed feelings) but one of the results of living in an area that does and having your kid apply is dealing with the fallout if they don't get in. It's tough. My kid was devastated when she didn't get into the HGC in part because I made the mistake of talking about it too much. This time I didn't build it up and she's ok with the rejection. We'll see how she feels when she goes to school Monday, if they even wait that long to start talking about who got in.
