Do you go to Europe ever?

Publicist PP here. I go to Europe for fashion week at least once a year. It doesn't change the fact that this look is dated and it looks like someone is trying too hard to look young and hip but they've missed the memo that the trend is over. There are plenty of cool outfits that OP can wear that look polished and put together that will look a million times better than this.

OP, I don't know what you own, what your regular style is, or anything about you, so I can't make any specific suggestions that will be helpful to you but the blazer and tee look isn't it.

What's a good look for a short (5ft) fullfigured woman? My style is more trendy than classic. I love heels. Examples of things I have: an a-line leather dress in a neutral color. Suede platform boots with stacked heel. Velvet blazer. Crinoline skirt. Several denim jackets and blazers. Animal print wedges. Denim dress with pussybow. Leather Obi belts in various colors.

My advice here is based on not knowing your body shape or anything so please remember that. This is so different than the advice I gave on accessories and holiday gifts because those items are pretty universal. I rarely, if ever, give anyone clothing advice without having seem them in person because I don't know how fabrics will drape and how certain materials will look on certain body parts vs. other parts and even saying "pear shaped" or "apple shaped" isn't enough because there's still such variety in those shapes and sometimes you'll want to accentuate one part and downplay another. So this is me shooting blind and I'm fairly certain it'll be a miss, but I'm going to try anyways.

In terms of the crinoline skirt - no, just no. That's not a good look, especially on a shorter, full-figured woman. And I say this as a 4'11" woman. If you want to update that look, take a look around for a simple pleated skirt in a metallic color. Your a-line leather dress sounds good. If it's a neutral color, then you can play up the accessories - especially your shoes - so make those pop and make them fun. Throw in a glam cocktail ring or big earrings. Depending on the neck line, a fun, bold necklace can also look fab. Do you have any type of bomber jacket? They're having a BIG moment right now, and the satin ones really help polish a look and pull it all together. (Shockingly, Abercrombie has / had a REALLY nice burgundy one for a great price!) If you're going to do a blazer, do a dark solid pant on the bottom (I prefer dressy joggers - I scored this one in black - but pick a pant that flatters your body), some sort of fun sparkly top, and a neutral, lighter color blazer with it. This time of year, I also love a flouncy, comfy cashmere sweater paired with a simple a-line skirt and over the knee boots. You might already own these, so put them together for a great holiday look. As much as I personally loathe denim dresses, you *can* wear it if it's flattering, paired with a leather jacket and boots, along with your obi belt. I'm a little more lenient with how I feel about denim dresses when it isn't wintertime, but if you're in a pinch, you can try to make it work.

One of my clients is a jewelry designer and she's a full-figured 4'10" gal so I've tried some of the looks above on her and she's loved them. Especially the dressing up of the joggers. She's obsessed with that look right now! Surprisingly, we don't have much luck dressing her here in DC but when we are out on the west coast, I find her some killer outfits at Ross and T.J. Maxx in Los Angeles. So if you're ever out there, spend an afternoon hitting a few of their locations. Chances are, you'll walk away with at least 6 beautiful outfits for less than $20 / each. (She's on a budget so we splurge on accessories for her and a few statement pieces of clothing, but then mix and match from Ross, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack, etc. for the rest of the pieces to her wardrobe)

Thanks! I am more curvy than pear and belting accentuates that I have a waistline and no problem showing cleavage. I am rarely trying to hide anything and mostly focus on highlighting my best features. Love these ideas and I have worn the crinoline once and felt like I was in a costume so I think I will pass that along to someone else. I have a sequin pencil skirt that I like much more.

Never liked the look. You can't mix dressing and casual.

I'm not sure what dressing means, maybe dressy? But good style often mixes high and low.

Sorry, "publicist PP" but you are utterly full of it. Here's just a little photo montage of women who rock jeans and a blazer:

I love all of those looks, PP! In fact, just this past week, I bought two blazers that I plan to wear with jeans and a t.

Publicist PP here. Are you illiterate or purposely being obtuse? You must be the person whose posts Jeff repeatedly deletes because for whatever reason, you have a problem with me.

Your post changes nothing about what I said nor does it make me "full of it." All the photos you posted are from either 2015 or before. As I said, the look is dated. And I stand by MY OPINION of it, working in entertainment and fashion. If you want to wear a look that is out of style and no longer trendy, by all means, go ahead. You obviously know so much that you don't need my advice. But when someone asks about the look, I will still ALWAYS say that the look is dated and out of style.

I swear, DCUM has more terrible people than it does good ones. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal.

You can't pull up a few trendy looks from google to post?

If you actually read through the thread, once OP gave more info about herself, I offered proper suggestions. When it comes to clothing, you can't just suggest a blanket look that will work for everyone, the same way accessories will. Seriously, what is your problem?

Street style looks from the most recent Fashion Week:

Oh look at that, a bomber jacket...

http://www.elle.com/fashion/shopping/g28821/street-style-stars-under-100-buys/

Would you look at this? 277 looks from FW and not one blazer + tee + jeans...

http://www.elle.com/fashion/g28737/nyfw-street-style-spring-2017/

I wonder why?

Listen, you can hate all my advice all you want, and maybe the looks I'm describing just aren't for you, but don't for one second act like I don't know what I'm talking about when I live and breathe this stuff day in and day out.

Anonymous wrote:Is this still fashionable? I remember a few years ago skinny jeans and a graphic tee with a black blazer and heels was really popular. Could you pull the look off with boyfriend jeans, flats , white tee and a navy blazer? Cute? Young? Dated?
O.P. How old are you (age range if you don't want to share your exact age.) I think that is part of the problem. What this publicist is suggesting works for celebrity 20 somethings but looks ridiculous on 40 somethings.

What would be a current alternative? I love blazers and jeans. My style is very classic. Thanks!!

"Filthy Animal" here -- I won't go into your craziness re: posts being deleted (no idea what you are talking about) but will only say that clearly you are a 20-something who lives and dies by Instagram, if you consider what women were wearing a year ago "dated."

I could post plenty of women with blazers and jeans in 2016 too! Jessica Alba, Kate Winslet, Rachel Bilson, but I will settle for two of the most stylish women in the world, Emmanuelle Alt, editor at French Vogue, and her colleague, Capucine Safyurtlu, below:

Bear in mind, as you race from store to store chasing down this year's silk bomber jacket, what YSL said: "Fashions fade, style is eternal."

While it may not be the most "trendy" look, I think it's classic.

The first pic you posted is from 2014. The second is from 2015. Reverse image search is a thing, you know. Just because these two wore this look in 2014 and 2015 doesn't mean it's a look that's still trendy at the end of 2016. You're literally just repeating the same thing. I said it's out of date. I will continue to say that. Posting pics from a year or two ago doesn't mean it's still an in look right now. This is what the OP asked about. I answered.

All YOU have done is derail this thread. Repeatedly. For no reason whatsoever other than you personally don't like my advice. And as I've said ad nauseam at this point, if you don't like it, don't freaking visit this thread. It's really that simple. Instead, you chose to be hateful for no reason whatsoever. And it's out of control at this point.
