Vacation drama with mother

She fat shamed you. She fat shamed a nursing mother and treated you like a two-year old. I would leave. But if you are desperate to stay because you need a vacation break, I agree with the other PPs and I would buy my own groceries and label everything.

I would also avoid eating in front of her and I would refuse to be lectured about it. And I would only use the beach house for a place to sleep and shower and I would find all kinds of activities to do and be gone for hours and come back and pretend to go to bed early but you can be in your room watching tv, reading, etc.

Every summer there are people who complain about parent-sponsored group vacations at the beach. Sorry, but sometimes free beach house vacations with others are not worth it.

My husband just figured out that I don't actually go to sleep at 8 when we stay at his parent's beach house

I' would have packed up and left as soon as DH returned and I would he e called everyone together and told them why. No one has the right to treat another person like that. However, you do sound like a bit of a martyr with your breastfeeding comment.
