| I know what you mean OP. I use to be able to walk to work (1.5 miles) so I would get a 3 mile walk in every day, then I walked during lunch, and would get home early enough to cook dinner, and then go out after DD came home and ate. NOW, I can no longer walk to work and instead have a 45 min commute. I work through my lunch so I can get home at a decent hour to cook dinner. My workout routine really got messed up. I call myself a runner, so I started running in the mornings before work and that worked for a while. Now it's so dang cold, I just can't do it. So....I've started doing my Insanity DVDs in the house in the mornings. It's a struggle to get up sometimes, but the KEY is going to bed early enough. For me, that is 10pm sharp! Any deviation from that time, and it really messes with my ability to get going. It's hard to first get started and into a routine, but once you do, you will hate it when something throws that routine off. Good luck. JUST DO IT!! |
| 2 school-age kids, WOHM with a long commute. MWF I get up early and drive to the gym near work and work out before work (2 days strength training and intervals, 1 day spinning). TTh I get up early and walk with a friend near home for an hour, or if she can't I go in to the gym and do some aerobics for an hour. Weekends I try to get in 15,000 steps somehow. It's easy to make excuses; you just have to get up and do it, make it a routine. |
T25. It is great! 2 out of the 10 videos do use weights, but you don't use those videos until week 6 and can easily switch those videos, use resistance bands instead (one of the people in the video uses the bands), or just not do the exercises with weights. |
| I bought a gym quality treadmill and elliptical and some barbells. It's so easy to wake up a little early or excercise in the evenings now. |
| Does your office building have a gym? Try working out at lunch time. |
| I've got two kids and WOHM. I have a Fitbit which is a great reminder to get moving. I run around 3 miles three times a week with a friend. Only takes a little over 30 minutes for us now. Play soccer 1 or 2 times a week. Walk/bus to work every day. Best thing is to just find ways to move no matter what. |
Where? |
| One school aged child. She goes to the gym with me 3 days per week during the school/work week and 1 weekend day. |
I agree. I do T 25 and I just use the bands on those days. They use tons of bodyweight exercises, so it's a good cardio and strength building work out without actual weights. It is really really hard, in a good way. |
Jillian Michaels: Banish Fat Boost Metabolism is a great video. Mostly cardio, a little resistant training but you only use your own body weight. http://www.amazon.com/Jillian-Michaels-Banish-Boost-Metabolism/dp/B004EL516O/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1424794463&sr=8-4&keywords=jillian+michaels |
| 2-3 days a week I do a heavy lifting program. After each of those workouts 10-20 minutes of HIIT or intervals. I try to do one more short metabolic workout (20-30 minutes) if I can squeeze it in. |
| Walk 4 miles every morning with my neighbor and our dogs at 5:30. Cannot wait for the warmer weather!!! Took a break this am because once it's below 20, it's just not enjoyable to be outside. |
Jillian Michaels has some (available on youtube) that are really challenging. I also like Tracy Anderson stuff although you need to be somewhat coordinated. I found a few youtube sites - BeFit and Fitness Blender that offer a good array of things. I prefer to do cardio at the gym or outside, but these are good options when I'm stuck at home. P90x also has some good cardio options (plyo and kempo). |
| I've got two kids and a third on the way. I work out most days on my lunch break at a gym near my office. In nicer months, I bike to/from work. During my kids' swim classes, I swim laps (while my husband watches the kids). I run outside (usually pushing at least one of them in a stroller). I play soccer with my older child. If all else fails, I find stuff on youtube or use my popsugar fitness ap (which helpfully breaks workouts into 5-15 minute blocks). |
