44, 1000 calories a day to lose weight, tell me what to eat

You're going to screw yourself with 1000 cals a day.

Do 1000 a day by eating 400 calories one day (salad, grilled chicken, very local dressing, brothy soups, etc) and 1600 calories the next. Repeat cycle until you reach the weight you want. This will give you an average of 1000 calories a day and the deficit you need to lose weight while protecting your metabolism from ratcheting down. It is also much more pleasant ... Any desired food item (within reason) is only one day away. And social get togethers can be scheduled for your up days. Focus on eating the healthiest foods you can, however you define that.

This is known as JUDDD diet ... There is a really good forum on it at www.lowcarbfriends.com if you are interested, and you do not have to eat low carb to do JUDDD.

I have easily lost 5 pounds in 7 weeks, which might sound slow but I am menopausal and very close to goal weight. The first few fast days were a challenge, but then it got really easy.

Sorry PP's but 1000 calories is not crazy - depends on your height/weight. I am 5'0 and 125 lbs and that is what is recommended for me, as well.

OP I use the Lose It! app which makes it easy to calorie track.

Eggs are filling (hard boiled egg on top of salad greens, or 2 eggs for breakfast).

Lots and lots of vegetables, of course.

Fish, veggies and a healthy fat like avacado or coconut oil.

This is very similar to 5:2 or 4:3 diet with intermittent fasting. I am on my first 500 calorie day.

Look into going Paleo. Lots of fruits, lots of veggies, you eat as much as you want. The catch is: NO GRAINS. AT ALL. No chips, no pasta, no cereal.... no sugar, no crackers.

The trick is in the meal planning. Keep snacks (think fruit, nuts) on hand so you don't raid the snack machine.

This is the best way to be healthy, drop weight, not starve yourself and not live in the gym. Sure, its good to break a sweat a few days a week for ANYONE, but if you want to see fat melt and not starve yourself, this is the way to go.

This is my trainers page, and he has been doing a paleo-ish diet for several years. He lost 100 pounds and I have dropped 40. I would tell anyone to follow his advice.

I wish you all the best.

My thought is to do 2 hemp protein shakes a day and one regular meal, which has to be essentially veggies and protein, but I'm finding myself to be woefully uncreative about the one meal, please help! All ideas appreciated.

Snacks:

kosher dill pickle spears
hearts of palm
airpopped popcorn

More snacks:

homemade trail mix
Olives/Sundried tomatoes

I'm short, menopausal, with a bum thyroid, and 1000 calories is plenty for me to maintain an amazing stoutness. Even though I eat low carb, I rapidly gain weight if I eat more than 1000 calories.
