Sorry private school mom. A B student is a B student.

What GPA does a "B student" have? 3.0 ?

Anything below 3.7 is a B student.

Syracuse (not Newhouse), Delaware, JMU, Scranton, Loyola Maryland, St. Joe's Philadelphia, Indiana (not Kelley), SUNY Buffalo, SUNY Geneseo, Dayton, Elon, Marquette. However, I'm thinking of a B student with above a 90 weighted GPA/ 3.5 or above, with very few C's on the transcript.

Size of desired school?
Make or female? (Depending on the school it might matter a lot)
Types of extracurriculars if any?

B student in honors and AP classes or B student in gen ed classes?

B studnet in a school where 60% of the class gets As or in a school where only 4 students have a 4.0?

You need to look at your own school's data because grades do not correlate school to school.

Excellent reputation, strong programs, and accepts a good number of B students?

A "please" would be nice.

What? a 3.7 on a 4 point scale is an A-. A B is a 3.0. Has the math changed?

If PP wants remotely useful suggestions, they should post more info the unweighted GPA, test scores, how many APs, major, and any other known preferences.

Consider checking out a FB group called something like: College advice for awesomely average kids

It’s for sub-3.5 & -1200 SAT

There’s lots of options but not if you’re a prestige snob

+1 and +1 for the "Awesomely Average" group on Facebook. One of my kids was an A/B student (very inconsistent grades due to ADHD) and applied to a bunch of "colleges for B students" but the list was highly focused on rural/small town LACs that have excellent environmental science programs.

There are an abundance of colleges - most of them - that are happy to admit B students. You need to curate a list based on what the student is really looking for. A business student who wants an urban campus would have a completely different list than DD (VCU, Temple, Drexel, St. Joe's come to mind).

Check out scattergrams for your DC's high school for the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) and University of Colorado (Boulder).

A few Bs in AP and H classes or mostly Bs with not as much rigor. A top student with several Bs can get in some great holistic schools if everything else is stellar. But if you want a generally good school for students below the top 20% of their class gpa with more average ECs etc I would look at Loyola MD, Delaware, USD, Loyola Marymount, JMU. Lots of range here though.
