Excepted - No Desire to Work

So situation normal for you. Get to work.

Empathy is hard when there is all this whining while most of the government is on a free vacation and we all know they will get paid.

OP is just mad she isn’t getting a free vacation when some people are. The jealousy is gross.

Maybe you’re just over your job. Have you thought about leaving for something that might hold your interest more?

Since we do time cards - I had to sign a time card Friday that was coded furloughed - without pay - although I was in the office working.

My spouse - also excepted - signed a time card saying LWOP because that is what the agency said to do.

That doesn't sound correct. I'm furloughed and I recorded my orderly shutdown hours on 10/1 like regular time, then used the furlough code for the rest of the week.
That said, we were also told that HR would sort out any timecard weirdness after the shutdown.

If it helps, OP, I think excepted employees should get something extra - at minimum, the interest accrued on any pay that doesn't arrive on time. In 2018 my agency gave a little admin time to excepteds after we all came back.

We didn’t even get a furlough code for last week’s timesheet. We were told we’d fix it on the back end. Although we certify our timesheets on Tuesday and at the time we didn’t know for sure we’d be furloughed.

I was excepted during the last shutdown and it was hard watching my entire neighborhood taking walks and doing yard work while I was coming and going from my deferred pay job.

Ignore the miserable trolls OP. This administration has done a really great job turning the populace against federal workers for sport. And this country is full of negative keyboard warriors and people with way too much time on their hands.

Um that's not correct. They're doing it wrong.

Different agency but we also directed to put furloughed despite us working as excepted. Definitely worrying and I don’t remember doing that before

Yeah. That's just...odd. If you're excepted you code exactly like you normally would.

Why are people being so nasty? I’m sorry OP. I really hope this ends soon.

No, the jealousy is understandable but that is probably part of the plan. Get the federal workers to turn on each other by sorting them into excepted/working without pay vs furloughed

No the worst possible outcome is reneging on pay. It's never happened before! Inconceivable!
But this administration (personally and politically) is notorious for not paying promised monies or for clawing it back. Just saying.

Just saying, or just catastrophizing?

That… seems like a dumb thing to be worked up about. So I assume that’s not really what’s bothering you.

I am bothered by not getting to sit at home with my puppy and drinking coffee all day, but then being told to sign a time card saying I was doing just that.

What does your puppy think ?

Because many have been without work and without pay for months. Out here trying to get interviews, and getting desperate.

What, specifically, is you’re catastrophizing doing in this instance to stop anything? You’re effectively advocating for the opposition party to stop opposing things.

Why are you guys committing fraud on behalf of the government without being paid for it? That’s MAGA moron behavior.

Incorrect on both counts. About three quarters of government employees are showing up for work every day with a promise to get paid eventually, just not now and no clear picture of when. And the other quarter are not on vacation as they have to be ready to report tomorrow morning, every day until this thing ends, and the White House is claiming they won’t get their back pay - it would be a mandatory pay cut.
