our unpaid military are legally not allowed to quit. |
So far military has been paid on time. |
| Thanks to OP and all the others who are working without receiving immediate pay. I, too, would feel uneasy in this Administration given the track record for honesty. |
| I worry that this administration won't bother to give back pay to anyone. It's frustrating to be forced to work and not get paid. |
So they are forcing everyone to commit time card fraud? That doesn't sound OK to me. |
No, not all. And actually who would people resign to? My husband is looking at other positions and his resignation cant be processed. Its unclear whether you get backpay if you leave during a shutdown so we would be out quite a significant amount. |
I'm with you, OP. I feel like my work is pointless. What am I working for? A country that expects me to work for free because they don't value my work anyway? You think Elon Musk would work for one minute for free? What a joke. I used to be proud of my job, because I felt like I was contributing to making this country great. Now I'm just a pawn of a giant game. Sure I could quit and go work in the private sector, but the reason I worked in federal service in the first place was because I believed in this country and wanted to make it the best in the world. Private sector work is just working for a paycheck. |
This is disingenuous and uncharitable. You, yes you and everyone else in the country, rely on feds not doing this. If all the excepted workers ‘made a choice’ and left there would be chaos and fatalities and the country would quickly grind to a halt in several ways. So while you may say everyone has a choice, your quality of life depends on them making the generous one. |
