+1 I think TkPk has some of the most "neighborhood" vibes of close-in Maryland but it definitely does not match the OP's vibes of wanting something more HOA-esque. |
Nah I love it |
It worked - I clicked the link, but WTF! |
This, especially if your kids will like being on the swim team. |
Budget? Home size? And you’re okay with good elementary but could go private for later (is what I’m reading?)
Much of Capitol Hill would work except for the HOA aspect. We have strong community associations but nobody is going to make anyone clean up their yard, for example. There is a historic district but it’s more of a check on renovation; the national park service is in charge of our parks and loves to neglect them. |
OP didn’t say they wanted an HOA? Just a community association, and Capitol Hill has lots of those. |
OP started an exact same second thread but never bothered to come back to this one to answer any questions. 🤔 |
OP here: Our budget is up to $1.5M. We want to steer clear of country club heavy neighborhoods.
Sorry for starting a second post. This one didn’t post immediately, so I thought I had inadvertently missed hitting submit. |
Someone who says nabes sounds like someone who would live in Takoma park. |
There are a lot of private school kids in Somerset. |
We have really, really loved Capitol Hill. Great elementary schools. Middle school gets tougher - but if you luck out in a charter/then Walls for high school, Capitol Hill has been a fantastic place to raise a family. |
22203 Arlington feeding into Ashlawn specifically and 22205 Arlington. I’ve posted this in another thread too - we’re in Bluemont near the Arlington Forest Pool and Bluemont Trail and I think we have 25+ kids on our street alone, most who are elementary age or younger. Can also walk to Pupatella (local pizza place that’s super kid friendly) and Ballston via the trail which is pretty nice. |
I like “nabes”! |
Of those DC neighborhoods, maybe half of the kids go to public school. |
IDC where you live - you cannot say "nabes" ever again. |
