Glover Park. Great, tight-knit neighborhood with a social life that revolves around the public school (Stoddert) and tons of families. |
Colonial Village or Shepherd Park in DC. Great family neighborhoods where kids still play outside. |
You can't move to Somerset with a budget of $1.5. |
Yeah I was surprised at this too. A lot of the people in this thread haven’t looked at prices since covid started. |
I mean houses are typically reflective of a persons HHI and their largest asset -- there are exceptions, but for the vast majority of home buyers, this is true. Someone buying 1.5mm house in DC has a HHI between 300-400k, this isn't paying for the initiation fee and monthly dues at Chevy or Kenwood. Its realistic. |
Not 2 miles from DC, but I think Columbia, MD is what OP is seeking. |
OP,
To help us narrowing down options, within your target budget, what Nabe and state are you relocating from? |
I heard most went private during COVID and haven't gone back to public. Maybe that's different with the younger elementary cohorts. Also think $1.5M is tight for Glover Park but haven't checked in a minute. |
Do you plan to redshirt? |
Sorry. I just can’t. Can someone tell me….Is “nabes” a thing? |
Sure, for people with littles who who are good at snagging a hot resy. |

There is a 0% chance this will sell for anything close to asking. |
I'm in one of the neighborhoods mentioned by a PP and it doesn't match anyone's vibes! |
Except that house is overpriced for what it is, and there’s about an 8 yr wait for WGCC |
