Hi! We’re a family with two young toddlers seeking to move into DC or to a nearby burb (within 2 miles of DC).
Looking for a neighborhood with: - an excellent public elementary school - many young families - a community with a dedicated social commitee / active civic association - a neighborhood in which most families send their children to public school, at least for elementary We would be grateful for any advice, good and bad. |
Impossible to answer without knowing your budget and housing requirements. |
A social committee? |
Somerset is a great community neighborhood with local elementary |
OP where are you coming from so we can better understand this item on your list? Also +1 what are your commutes and budget? |
Maryland - Westbrook, Wood Acres, Somerset, Chevy Chase
DC - AU Park, Palisades, Spring Valley, Glover Park |
Nabes? |
Commutes? Budget? |
This is probably correct but assumes an unlimited budget, which matches the vibes of the OP |
Nabe? What is that? |
Takoma Park but you're gonna have to stop saying "nabe." |
Quite possibly the dumbest thing I've seen on here - and that takes a lot |
https://redf.in/Aphy25 Does a house like this work? It’s a 15 minute drive to DC and it’s on a quiet residential neighborhood road (with no through traffic). It’s in country club hills, if you want to join the country club that could provide some community involvement. |
This person will dislike Takoma Park. Definitely does not match their vibes. |
Nabes?? |
