Best DC nabes for young family with excellent public elementary school

Anonymous
Hi! We’re a family with two young toddlers seeking to move into DC or to a nearby burb (within 2 miles of DC).

Looking for a neighborhood with:

- an excellent public elementary school
- many young families
- a community with a dedicated social commitee / active civic association
- a neighborhood in which most families send their children to public school, at least for elementary

We would be grateful for any advice, good and bad.

This is probably correct but assumes an unlimited budget, which matches the vibes of the OP

Takoma Park but you're gonna have to stop saying "nabe."

Quite possibly the dumbest thing I've seen on here - and that takes a lot

Does a house like this work? It’s a 15 minute drive to DC and it’s on a quiet residential neighborhood road (with no through traffic). It’s in country club hills, if you want to join the country club that could provide some community involvement.

This person will dislike Takoma Park. Definitely does not match their vibes.
