Will Attendance even be take June 16-17 ?

Our HS told kids not to come. If they come it will be playing brain games or watching movies. Grades due on Friday.

We signed our kid up for KAH camp at another MCPS school that week. Since the school calendar was extended, they cannot open the camp on Monday and Tuesday. Instead they are providing aftercare at her regular school. So my kid will be at school in the morning and KAH in the afternoon.

DP. Heads up that KAH is closed Thursday 6/19 for Juneteenth, so camp that week is only Wednesday and Friday.

They’re not even full days.
Some of us (like teachers) have had to work in person all along.

And your work is deeply appreciated. You also get summers off, so at least a brief respite from the grind. But I hope as a teacher you're not going to be bad-mouthing parents who send their kids. That's all.

They don't have summers off. They work a 10 month contract and aren't paid the other two months.

And many of us continue to work an 2nd job until we receive our next pay in SEPTEMBER.

You are sending them for a few hours?

Isn’t camp easier? For us it covers more hours.

Grades are due this Friday, as in tomorrow?

Oops - I means Friday as in next week? They are due on what originally was the last day of school?

DP, but our aftercare covers the rest of the day at our regular monthly rate.

Yes. My kids school is collecting chromebooks on Monday so they aren’t really doing anything all next week except watching movies related to the books they’ve been reading and maybe doing some class discussions or games. I’m okay with that. If they’re reading a play, it’s good to see the play performed, etc.

ES teacher already announced no homework next week.

We’ll be missing the final two half days…

Our ES school told students the same thing.

In my full time 12 month job, I am not able to take two months off work every summer. Yes, teachers can take the summers off if they want. They do not get paid for those months, but they do get to keep their jobs. That is a benefit associated with their job that most other professions do not have. You will surely respond with numerous benefits that teachers do not get, but this is one that they do get.

I would love to have the choice to either save money during the year to take 2 months off in the summer, or make additional money over the summer. And with a pension and health insurance covered all year. Most workers do not have that choice. You keep working or you quit
