This is me. I was on for 4 months and lost 30 lbs. I have been off a year and have continued to lose 10 more! It really reprogrammed my brain and how I think about food.

If I feel like I need it again I would not hesitate to go back on.

Same. If I need to use it for 4-6 months every other year, fine. Better than what I've watched my mom go through just trying to stay not-quite-obese.

It's actually not "fine." This will do horrific things to your metabolism.

NP. No dog in this fight but how could he know this? Do we really have enough studies about these drugs at this point in time?

Yes these aren't new drugs. And they don't do horrific things to your metabolism. T

I really don't think there is any long term solution other than staying on the GLP at a lower dose for at least every other week. I am happy that I've started back on it before my rebound weight was too serious.

Same. I am on the lowest dose every two weeks to maintain, after losing 40 lbs.

Can please you cite any articles or research showing it does “horrific things to your metabolism”? Thanks!

op here. So how do you get it if you only want to lose 15lbs?

Anonymous wrote:Yes, I’m doing it right now. Down 8 pounds with 6 to go. No side effects yet. I am very active and normally eat pretty well but I’m in the throws of perimenopause. You really just aren’t as hungry. If you are already working out 6 days a week and are normally healthy, you can keep it off. I might need a boost before next summer and I’m ok with that.

you have zero experience keeping weight off after stopping this drug

np and I'm disagreeing with this. GLP-1 helps you realize that you eat even when not hungry. The meds allowed me to see that I didn't need to eat that much and I'm feeding myself food to feed some other need. The fact that at times food is nauseating yet you still feel a hunger for something made me realize I needed to feed myself with other healthful habits and that I don't need food other than for sustenance.

by the by, I used it to lose 25 lbs and wasn't obese.

I used it to lose 15 lbs and am now super slim. I love how I feel on this drug. My intention was the same as yours - take it to lose these stubborn lbs then stop. But it's so refreshing to not be obsessed with food, battling hunger, monitoring calories all the time. I am so peaceful now. I am taking .75 mg per week which is less than half of the 2.5 starting dose of my GLP (tirzepatide) and I think I could stand to lower the dose even more and feel the positive effects (less hunger, staying full for many hours after eating, fewer cravings). I am so thankful for this medication!

I keep a spreadsheet, so I can tell you exactly. 9 weeks on 2.5. Lost 10 lbs and stalled out for a couple of weeks, so went to 3.5 for the next 5 weeks. Then moved down by .5 each week until I got to 1, where I stayed for 3 weeks. Now I'm moving down by .25 per week. Total weight loss actually 21 lbs at this point, but I wouldn't mind gaining back a few. I just don't want to stop this med because I hate the feeling of hunger. And it drove me to do really unhealthy things, like binge eat. That's a non-issue now on this med.

Well my metanbolism wasn't in great shape to begin with so I'll take the risk

I am starting the weaning off process because the last few doses (and even reducing the dose) have made me unable to eat at all. But I have also reversed those lifestyle factors that led to weight gain in the first place, so I’m hoping I will not see my weight creep back up. I am much more active now, so that is helping as is the realization that I only need to eat once a day.

What if you can't afford the drugs any longer or your body can't take them?

I'm saving a good bit of money on groceries, by being on GLP1s. It costs me about $250/month, and I'm saving about $150/months on groceries. It's not a wash, but it makes things it a little more affordable.
