What’s a thin weight for a 5’4” middle aged woman? I’ve always been slightly on the chunky side, and then ended up

120 is not ‘incredibly thin’ at that height

Another shortie and I agree. 120 is average. 110 would be skinny for me.

It depends on build.

110 would be too bony for me (old and bony doesn't make you look like a model) and too gaunt in the face.

I'm 5' 3.5" and pretty muscular. 120 is 'worrisome thin' for me and I would look terrible any thinner. All bodies are different.

OP, I second the person who encouraged you to lift weights and aim for tone/strength vs. continuing to focus on losing pounds.

I am 5’3” and currently at 108. It’s too thin so I’m working on gaining. I lost a bunch of weight due to a very stressful period. I’m typically 117 and there is fat but it’s what a middle age woman needs. I went down to 102 and am heading back up. You need a cushion in case you get sick or have stress for months. You also need weight to protect your bones. Agree that lifting weights is your best option but super skinny is not a worthy goal IMO.

This depends entirely on your body type. Everyone carries weight differently. Focus on how you look not the number on the scale.

Very thin on the GLP does not look good at all unless you are doing a lot of weight training.

OP is an example of what gives GLP users a bad reputation.

But part of me wants to be thin thin. I’ve never been fashionably thin like some people where almost all clothes just look great, and shoulders/arms are defined etc. I don’t mean anorexic btw.

At what weight does that happen? Right now I’m right in the middle of the range for a healthy weight for my height.

If you don’t believe in GLP, you can move along

Anyone btdt and managed to get very thin on a GLP?

It really depends on your frame and your current % of body fat/ lean mass. Weight is not going to be your best indicator (and people here with different body types will excoriate you for saying anything under 120).

For reference, I felt fashionably thin at 5’5 and 105 pounds when I was 20 years old and skinny, not fit, was the norm. Knowing I have a very very small frame and I don’t naturally build muscles so I easily go to skinny fat when I gain weight.

Today at 45 yo I feel fashionably thin at 115. But I am trying to move away from the scale and focus on my body fat %. I am sure I will look better at 120 with a lower body fat %. With better looking arms and shoulders in particular. And I am also just looking forward to be healthier / stronger and preparing for further muscle loss in menopause.

So for you on a GLP1 : I would start by getting a body scan and focus more on your lean mass. Losing muscles is already a risk of the medication. Now is the right time to focus on gaining muscles.

Everyone carries weight so differently. I'm 5'4" and 44yo and I'm 135 lbs. I wouldn't say I'm thin, but I also don't think I look chunky. I don't have rolls or anything. I'm fit and strong. I wear a size 4 or a small. Ideally, I'd like to be at 130, but I love wine and food too much!

This the downside of GLPs. When people with eating disorders get their hands on them, I just fuels their disorder.

+1. I’m 135 at 5’6” and quite thin.

Sorry, meant 130!

Op. I’m probably closer to 5’3.5 (I always give myself a little boost) and I look thin at 120 ish but my upper body is still puffy. (Arms, back fat).

So you're skinny fat. Losing weight won't get rid of this. Lift, lift, lift. I am 5'3" and always been super skinny (not by choice). My mid-50s I fluctuate between 120-125. I each and I do weights and I look skinny and healthy because I have muscles.

Don't compare yourself to "fashionably thin" people "where almost all clothes just look great." Looking good in clothes is about more than just being skinny or fat. I'm 5'2" and no matter how thin I get, a lot of clothes are not flattering on me because of my proportions, and that's fine. I will NEVER look good in barrel jeans for example! There are influencer-types who look great in almost anything, but that's not the majority of women regardless of weight. We just see a disproportionate number of people like that on traditional/social media so it's easy to forget that they are a small (and lucky!) minority.

I'm 5'5" and 125, so about the same as you.

Losing more weight won't make you look better. You probably look fine just as you are.

I'd LIKE to lose 5 pounds. But at middle age, the weight seems to fall off my face and I look older.

I have a good bit of muscle, so I am trying to learn to view this as my new set point.

This is a weird thread. I am 5’4”.

In HS, I weighed in the 90s and most people thought I was anorexic. I had a friend whose mom was a runway model who commented I was thin enough to model but too short. That was not really a compliment in the heroin chic days.

In my 20s and when breastfeeding, I was between 110-120. People considered me extremely thin. I wore a size 2.

In my thirties I was more in the 120-130 range and that seemed normal thin honestly..

In menopause I gained a fat roll around my stomach and am now like 147. That is fat on the BMi scale but most people don’t think I am fat. You can still see my ribs in a bathing suit. I wear a size 6 to 12 depending on where it fits tight. (Menopause, like pregnancy but without the baby!).

OP, you sound very thin and I don’t think you should be on GLP. I say this with kindness, but I think you need to see someone about your mental health that you are so concerned with losing more weight.

I’m 5’3.5” age 63, currently 122. If I go down even 1 or 2 lbs my face shows it immediately. I look haggard, drawn. But my jeans feel great.

1 or 2 lbs at this height and my current age make a huge difference in how I look (face) and feel (in my clothes). I’ve found it’s absolutely true, that saying about having to make a choice between face and rear as you get older. For me the choice is pretty clear. I really don’t like looking in the mirror and seeing a face that looks older than it has to.

It definitely depends on the build.

I'm 125 at 5'4" and wear a size 2 and people comment "you're so thin!" I'm 45 so the age where being very trim becomes less common.

But I have an athletic build and do a lot of weight lifting. I'd actually be fine going up to 130 if it came in the form of muscle -- my arms look good but I'd like to level up my weights and build a bit more muscle mass in my shoulders.
