You underestimate how many people turn in their applications last minute on the last week. |
So true. Schools outside the t50 like Northeastern have applications at all time lows....oh wait |
?? Why bring up northeastern? It’s at the heels of t50. There’s also many random southern state schools that got a big boost this year, due to sports. Overall, applications are dropping for many schools, just not literally the most popular ones. |

I think international apps are skyrocketing. there was a lull during Covid but they're now soaring.
Texas is an extremely popular international application per Reddit. |
I’m usually progressive, but we need a massive restriction on applications from east Asia. |
| Texan here who knows some really frustrated kids today. They should have let them know before the official notification date that their decisions would be pushed to February. |
You should really work on your trolling. It’s pretty bad. |
| This makes no sense. It ucks. UCLA gets 120k apps, NYU and Northeastern get 100k. Other colleges can manage, but not Texas? |
yes. It was handled so poorly. a week ago they should have said "hey, we need until XYZ date...." instead, there was no communication. not even the customary email to say "check the portal" until hours after results were in the portal. no communication for weeks prior to today. handled so oddly. |

Another Texan here. Kid was auto and did get his major along with about 10 of his friends - many in high demand majors.
Where UT went wrong.., Why didn’t they issue some kind of statement today saying no one was denied and we need more time. People have to crowd source this info. Never should had let in even one RD person ahead of an EA. My biggest fear is that there actually were a lot who got in. I know over 10 personally from our own school. So what could that mean? It could mean the deferrals turn to denials at a large rate. This is where UT owes people some facts. Rather than just pushing it off |
NP but can you go or add something even slightly productive? We get it. |
|
They got 72k last year and got 90k this year. Also, this is only the second year they have done Early Admission. They did something similar before but the current system is new. Regardless, they should have let the kids know it would be delayed - other schools have done this. That said, they also don't really care. They know they can slap kids around and the kids will still be chomping at the bit to attend. Also, they can get use to the lack of transparency and general administrative dysfunction at UT early.
(Hook 'em). |

The school has an interim head of "Enrollment Mangement". Maybe that has something to do with it? Sounds like the chaos at NEU for HS class of 23. Brought in a new guy from Tulane who was implementing a new "system". |
| Were they test required this year? |
This! That they didn't outright reject anyone (that I know of) is not cool. At least let them move on. |
