| From my daughter circle the kids who got their answer on Jan 15 were high scoring SAT kids, including my own. One of them is non-auto RD kid. |
Did your dd apply RD or EA? |

My daughter is one of the UT early action applicants who was deferred.
They knew before the deadline, and I think should have sent an email out to all applicants whenever they realized the situation saying that they would be pushing the announcement deadline to February 15, instead of having kids on pins and needles awaiting a reply on Jan 15. My daughter is treating this as a "rejection in disguise" which I think is the right approach. |

I have a junior and am curious….my sense is that, for a MD student, Texas is easier to get into than Berkeley, Michigan, Virginia and maybe Wisconsin or UNC, but harder to get into than other state schools.
Is that right or am I off? |
My impression is different. I think UT is similar to UNC and Cal for OOS admission. UVA slightly easier than UT. Michigan and Wisconsin both significantly easier for OOS admission than UT. |

Sending your kid to Texas after the Riley Laken Act genius just genius
What the Ken Paxton Empowerment Act, aka the Laken Riley Act, “does is require detention, without bond or even a bond hearing, to decide if a person really poses a public safety risk. That is a dangerous concept.” You think your college kid would never get caught in a Paxton law lol 😂 you are a horribly dumb parent |
Depends on major. Comp sci, business and engineering will be ucla level difficult. Education, communications, cola is probably uva level (or easier) if you have good gpa, 1450+ and very good EC that fit to your major |
COLA can be very difficult to get into since it is stuffed with top 6% students. At dc’s school, business is much easier to get into and cola is around cs in terms of difficulty. No one has ever gotten in for architecture. |
Are you oos? Interesting. I’m in state. We regard cola as pretty easy bc that’s where the kids go who don’t get their majors. But I guess it does get stuffed. I stand on education and communications though. And nursing is impossible for everyone. |
I’m in state. Our DD attends s top magnet school, so admissions are a bit funky- top 6% is 7 kids for example. For the magnet schools, they seem to like those applicants in business and engineering, but getting into any basic liberal arts is a massive pain if you aren’t auto admit. Agreed on education and communications. I’m not even sure how one gets into the nursing school. |
EA, all the kids in top 6% of the class applied early admission. |
