AIPAC pulled some strings to keep the Democrats weak.

+1 He’s in his 70s and battling cancer. It’s a mistake to put him in leadership. Both parties need to start promoting younger members into leadership roles.

I smell a Presidential run in his future. Can't have enough old white guys in charge.

If you really consider AOC to be the most popular young person in the party, then Democrats won't be winning national elections any time soon.

Multiple things can be true about AOC. She can be a far left loon, as someone here called her. And she can be an iconoclast whose popularity transcends party.

Democratic cronyism.

AOC defines democratic cronyism.

I have come to like AOC and think she has an interesting voice. But with the backlash against DEIJ and social warriorism, it may be better to have a white male in this role.

How isn't that DEI? Only white men get the job because they are men and white?

America needs a center left majority more than it needs a far left minority.
Gerry Connolly splits the difference, he's pretty left but not a fukn nutjob

She’s far left for promoting American workers? Okay. I think the Dems are nearly as misogynist and power hungry as the GOP so no surprise, especially since it’s the very thing AOC is trying to dismantle. She also a candidate who won with a ton of votes with the felon on top, so she’s clearly winning, so let’s ignore her.

+1, just not AOC.

Democrats in Washington increasingly believe progressives cost them the election. They're not wrong. Progressives did cause Democrats to lose everything - the White House, the Senate, the House, State Houses. But Democrats are wrong to block AOC from meaningful leadership positions. She's young, charismatic, sharp, articulate, and when she focuses on things like health care and corruption, she's terrific. Everyone is running away from LatinX, trans, DEI, restorative justice, and all the other progressive nonsense. AOC is smart enough to realize what works and what doesn't work. And she is gifted and has a large national constituency. Democrats should have allowed her to be a voice in the party as it moves on. Propping up the gerontocracy isn't going to win Democrats any elections either.

America isn’t a center left nation. It shouldn’t have a center left majority in the House.

Maybe it is maybe it isn't. But it's definitely not a far left nation.

I would argue that America is in fact in the center and center left has as good a chance as center right but if we let people associate the democrats with the far left, we are lost.

I see all the normal people coming back to the center and shedding their embarrassing "Republican" or "Democrat" labels while the lunatics that make all the noise have moved to some useless fringe space.

No, what I meant is that she's the GOP's poster child for Wokeism, fairly or unfairly. They (The GOP) won't have her to use as an example of the Dems being controlled by the left wing.
