Tyson’s Corner Shopping is mobbed by shoppers and yet people think the economy is bad?

The economy is not bad in McLean! The top 20 percent of earners, many of whom live in McLean, are doing better than ever. It's the bottom 80 who are feeling the pinch.

Trump got elected because his microtargeted messaging - much of which was not true or did not focus on actual policy - was much, much better than the Dems, who were a bit naive to be honest.

And just imagine what higher prices due to the pass through cost from tariffs is going to due to that bottom 80%.

The lower class people are still buying at a record pace on Amazon and also gambling their money away on NFL bets, casinos, etc. so yeah huge disconnect regardless of whatever shopping mall you are at or online. Not to mention Walmart, which is Mecca for moderate to lower class, is prospering well. Saw a ton of people today in Alexandria. So yeah, huge disconnect with “economy being so bad” and yet people not matter what their income are spending at a record pace.

They’re not buying with cash, they’re buying on credit card and likely wont pay it all the first month and will then have interest payments.

Clearly OP is not an economist.

The only useful information is to let people know that if they are heading from Arlington/McLean towards Vienna/Fairfax on 123, be prepared for a lot of congestion going through Tysons.

Seriously, OP -- you're surprised that a mall is busy on black friday?

It’s almost always busy at Tysons – I’m there several times a week. But also, it was never “about the economy“.

Tysons is always busy. But during midweek most people are just there for food and socializing.

I live in McLean but I avoid Tysons like the plague during the holiday season.

Yet if you go to Tysons Corner shopping mall right now, it’s an hour to get in and there are lines of people everywhere buying stuff they don’t even need. It’s astonishing how they voted for all the wrong reasons when the reality is clearly the opposite of what they think is going on.

Go check out Montgomery Mall it’s so sad. It’s a beautiful mall and it’s empty. I wish we had that development and prosperity on the Maryland side!! And we’re the idiots that think the economy is great and democrats are awesome: our restaurants are empty. Businesses suffering. Malls are wastelands.
Which side makes more sense to you???? Busy thriving bustling Virginia with new businesses popping up everywhere??? Or blue democratic stronghold Maryland dying on the vine???

I was at Montgomery Mall today and it was packed. Not sure what you're talking about.

Of the 10 richest counties in the US, 5 of them are in the DC area, including Fairfax County where Tysons is located:
