I'm watching the mens basketball. Most of them are wearing compression tights or socks. How come the female beach volleyball players don't think they'd benefit from compression leggings? I wouldn't want to do a sport requiring a Brazilian wax. |
Of course they can opt for more coverage. They're grown women who have chosen to wear what they feel will help them compete their best. No one is forcing them to wear anything. These are not toddlers.

Get your eyes off that appendage and back on proofreading your post, lol! |

| I was in a waiting room and women’s water polo was on. Those were the worst I’ve seen yet. Why are they all in thongs? How can that be comfortable? |
|
Male divers wear insanely skimpy briefs and I know it's perhaps irrational but I always worry they will slip as they enter the water. Like not worried for me but just thinking that would be embarrassing and not wanting that for them.
I am certain none of them are worried about this. Who knows it may even have happened and they don't care-- I think athletes in general tend to just be very comfortable with their bodies. They spend their lives in locker rooms and with trainers massaging their muscles and doctors and coaches examining them and I think they just don't care. But I'm a normie and feel vicarious worry and embarrassment about their tiny swimsuits and the risk of wardrobe malfunction. |
Finally a sport to admire skimpy male attire I feel cringe when the women pick their leotards out of their butts in gymnastics. Why doesn't it stay in place? Can't they glue it or wear tights underneath?

| Looks like the women's marathon medal winners were wearing shorts and long tops. Maybe it's not performance enhancing to run in a bikini. |
Marathoners aren't sprinting or trying to jump over a bar where extra clothing might cause drag or catch something. It's a different sport. You're also talking about a few inches of fabric. Who cares? What is it that you think will happen as a result of a few extra inches of exposed skin? Some man will get aroused? Well the potential arousal of men was and is the reason for expecting women to keep their ankles and hair covered. Yet most of the world has eschewed that and it's fine. So I really don't get why you care whether they wear briefs or shorts. |
Many of the less talented marathoners were wearing bikinis. I don't like it when male athletes in beach volleyball, handball, track etc get fuller coverage when there were rules that women had to come out in underwear. Norway got fined for wearing shorts a few years back. I get that these women enjoy wearing not very much. It's a bit the same as high school where the boys aren't disciplined for clothing infractions because long shorts and t shirts comply with the rules, while mothers of daughters shriek when their daughters get sent home for daisy dukes and exposed midriffs. |
The minimalist athletic wear is a fashion not a necessity. I was reading that it's a rite of passage when you're fast enough that you get to wear "buns" in college. Yes they can choose to wear what they want, but teenagers and young women are a compliant lot, often wanting to do and wear the same thing. Long shorts seem to work for Noah Lyles, so it's not a matter of speed. Just to prove my credentials as a fuddy duddy, I really hate see-through dresses on the red carpet too. |
| The only thing these women may look back on is how amazing they look. Absolutely fit and could not care less what somebody like OP thinks about what they wear. Those track and field athletes are just so accomplished and should be commented on for that, not what they're wearing. |
| Everyone's talking about butt cheeks, but have you noticed that the track and field women almost all have no breast development? They probably don't wear bras because there is nothing to hold up. Probably a result of intense training. Dolly Parton would probably not do well in the trampoline event. The point is--these women and men are beautiful specimens of the human body (and mind) in their respective sport. |
Did you really just write this about incredibly athletic, elite women in their sport? |
So the fast marathon runners can wow us with their skills, and the also rans are left wowing us with their abs and underwear outfits? |
