What are you doing for July 4th? What do you WISH you were doing for it?

I invited some friends over only to find out we’re excluded from another family’s get together. I’m pretty down about it.

Kids are at sleepaway camp. DH and I are headed to a BNB in Va for a few nights. Hoping for peace and quiet with some hiking and wine tasting thrown in. Can't wait!

I’m working 6-2 then going to the pool for a couple of hours. My tween is going to the pool earlier with friends luckily and I’ll meet them there. My spouse works 4-midnight so just me and tween and our new rescue dog in the evening. We’re staying in, not sure how the dog will do with the fireworks so don’t want him to be alone.
OP do u have friends? Not trying to be snarky, is there no one you would want to invite to go to the beach with you?

Nothing. If it's like last year, I will listen to the loud teenage party next door and the illegal fireworks. I have grown to not like this holiday. It's so crowded everywhere, traffic, drunk drivers. Hiding at home.

Something similar to me as well. I am very sad. My husband has been working hard to cheer me.

It will all be Ok.

A random neighbor usually hosts a last minute bbq and sets off some Costco fireworks. If they don’t do it for some reason, that’s fine.

Every year on the 3rd the local country club (that we don’t belong to) does a fancy profession display you can see well from the public road outside. So if we feel like it we drive over and watch that.

I’m definitely not sitting in any traffic or staking out my spot with a blanket hours ahead of time. Those days are long gone - no thanks.

OP, I have no plans, and I love that for me. Your plan sounds perfect, right down to the lo mein. I want to copy it. Would you happen to have a recipe you could share?

Sleeping late, going to the neighborhood pool, then we’re cooking a giant pork loin on our grill, and after dinner I will watch A Capital Fourth on tv and eat lots of berries and Cool Whip. Sounds perfect to me.

I have gone to the Mall many times over the years to watch the fireworks, but I'm happy to watch them on tv this year.

I just will look at a few recipes on AllRecipes.com and cobble together one Ideal Lo Mein Recipe for me to use, based on what I have, can find, and like. Like for example, one recipe said green bell pepper, but I like red so I'll use red.

Been there. The worst for me was one year our next door neighbors invited us to their 4th of July party which we attended. The next year they had the party and did not invite us. My husband had to work so I was alone feeling like s$it. I think we had moved before the next summer.

I am planning to do some housework but not much else.

Headed to NYC for the weekend. Will go out to dinner then watch the fireworks from a friend's rooftop. Tickets to a show and a few restauarant reservations, but otherwise playing it by ear.

My dog asked me to stay home and protect her from the stupid neighbors’ fireworks. Will definitely do so.
