What are you doing for July 4th? What do you WISH you were doing for it?

I don't ever have plans or get invited to things. I might take a book and blueberries and take the train out to the ocean Thursday morning to read for an hour or two. Not sure if restaurants will be closed for the holiday, but might attempt to make lo mein - where I live is having a heatwave, so using the oven is off-limits for a few days. Will probably continue watching Dawson's Creek and Your Honor, but am not super enthusiastic about either.

What about you?

Why don’t YOU throw the event and do the inviting?

I’m not doing anything. Will probably take a late-night walk around the neighborhood with my kids, because people go nuts with fireworks and it’s always a fun walk. Craving a BLT pizza, so I think we will do that. That’s it.

We’re just going to our town’s fireworks 🤷‍♀️

I live in a VERY tiny one bedroom with no air conditioning, two sofa seats or otherwise people are sitting on my bed, and am poor. I do not throw events.

OP, I’m going to a ticketed event downtown, $10 for entrance, have to pay additional for food and drink.

I will be preparing my vote to keep our democracy and independence without interference. I don’t want another January 6 assault orchestrated by a fake president with so much malarkey.
I also will be watching soccer games.

Perhaps, then, you aren’t excluded, others just aren’t hosting for other reasons, too.

Dinner and fireworks at our country club. Nothing terribly exciting. I'm not a huge fireworks fan. I can take them or leave them.

I invited fiends to a potluck. That will end long before fireworks, and I’m not sure we will go see fireworks anywhere.

Taking the train to the beach sounds dreamy. Have fun, OP!

Morning will be hiding from the heat inside, afternoon at the pool, grilling for dinner and sparklers on the back patio. My kids are too little to stay out late enough for fireworks.

Nothing as usual. Fireworks are horrible especially for dogs. Wish they would just do one set and be done but often there are several shows going well past an hour.

I don't think I've ever been invited to anything on July 4th. The only people who ever invite me to things are my SIL and brother, and they're traveling around Europe for three weeks.

Are you in the DMV? Lots of the independent towns have parades and other events, like Fairfax City and Manassas. Ask if anyone wants to go with you and, if nobody does, go check it out yourself. It might be a nice change of pace.

Kicking off a long weekend of potty training!

Your plans sound amazing to me! I would love to go to the ocean for an hour or two! My DH and I are probably going to go to our pool (even though it will be super crowded) and then grill hamburgers. We can go back to our club to watch the fireworks but we probably won’t. We never make a big deal about the 4th and we never go to parties then either.
