No that’s different sorry you were abused.

Spot on!

Decent sense of humor, not easily offended, likely punctual, few dietary restrictions, sense of personal accountability, a brain ruled by logic and a desire to be pleased with whatever comes their way.

Huh. That's me, but I've never really had guy friends.

She’s the kind of woman that men marry, not date for fun.

That's something the guys' girl tells herself. But the guys really don't care about her football knowledge. They have plenty of real guy friends to talk about that with. The guys' girl brings nothing of interest to the table. She's just, there.

Means she’s easy to talk with in the group and no one’s sexually or romantically interested in her.

Like Sally rider the astronaut was treated “like one of the guys.”

hahhaha yes, and she was gay.

Means they think of her like a cousin or something. And they have a common sport or job or alum group, whatever.

Means they don’t view her as a romantic interest. Not a Pick Me girl either.

This.

I was this woman for years and I think a lot of my male friends' GFs thought I was playing some long con. In reality they were like brothers to me and I was the one giving them advice on how to impress those women, I was the one reminding them to be kind and respectful and giving them a hard time when they were jerks.

Those guys are still like brothers to me, btw. I'm married, but to someone who never saw me as "one of the guys." And he's friends with those guys too now.

Sometimes things are exactly what they seem.

“One of the guys” girls usually don’t let anyone they hang out with touch them and the guys she does hang out with protect her like their sister.

If they were running trains on you then you weren’t one of the guys. You were the chick they talk about with the guys.

This. No drama, she's not playing some game to get them to date her, she doesn't expect them to treat her special (she buys rounds too, she's not offended if the night's plans are just watching sports at a dive bar. She is literally "one of the guys" -- a friend who it's fun to hang with and demands nothing else beyond just a fun hang once in a while (and is also fine if it doesn't' happen).

Not pretty ?

I’ve played golf and tennis at a very high level for many years and I often play with the guys. We’ll sit around afterwards and have a drink and BS for awhile. I’m happily married so there has never been anything more than sports so I guess I’m like one of the guys.

She also shows up with freshly baked brownies and a bottle of liquor in hand.

Was going to say this -- my guy friends viewed me like a sister or cousin they could be real in front of. But they never hit on me, not once. I actually went through a period of time when I was struggling with dating where I was offended by it, like "hey, how come these guys I spend every weekend with don't even have the smallest crush on me?" Nevermind that I didn't have a crush on any of them either. But the truth was that we met and became friends at a time and in a way where there just wasn't that kind of attraction. One was a roommate and we just successfully killed off even the idea that we'd ever be into each other. Another was a close friend of my brother so a brother by transference. And the third was a coworker who became my work husband, and 6 months into being friends we revealed to each other that we both thought the other one was gay (we're both straight). So zero chemistry. They all became friends with each other through me, and I was always just part of the deal. It would have been as weird for one of them to date me as for them to date one another. It just wasn't like that.
