How attractive do you think men would rate you on a scale of 1-10?

Anonymous
Latinos would rate me 9, all other men 6.

4 but if they saw my financials, 7.5?

So let's go with this rubric:

In shape? You start at 5.

Is hair styled and current (no mom cut and no gray)? +1
Do you attempt to wear clothes that fit and are reasonably current? +1
Do you wear some kind of makeup to accentuate better features? +0.5

So you're at an 7.5 if you're doing all of the above.

8-10 is reserved for genetic good looks.

I think at 45+, only 9-10 is reserved for genetic good looks. Add in +1 if you take care of your skin (lasers, tasteful botox, retinol, sunscreen).

Yes, but also selection in bias in who chooses to answer. Especially those who chose to answer first. And it is further magnified in that it is impolite to talk about money so a question on an anonymous forum lets people do so.

If someone asks in the Beauty forum, “How attractive do you think men would rate you on a scale of 1-10?”, what do you think the answers are going to look like?

Well, first, who is going to be reading that forum every time they’re scrolling DCUM? Clearly those who value physical attractiveness very highly and are constantly looking for tips and ideas. If it’s something they value and put the effort into, then they probably *will* be 8-pluses.

And second, the woman who believes she’d be rated a 4 is going to be less likely to post this after seeing that everybody else is an 8 or 9. But by definition, not everyone can be an 8+ in attractiveness.

It’s the same thing with the Money forum and explains why you have to take all the responses here with a big grain of salt."

I wonder how much of this is modesty and not wanting to give a number too high. I did that actually, when I posted the first reply to try and get things going (it worked!). Come on ladies this is anonymous; what do you REALLY think you are? I actually think I'm a 9, lol. Hate to prove that money commenter right but...

I rated myself as a 4 but I still have to buy clothes.

This makes me feel better about myself! I have a Plain face but I do all of the above 😊

When I glam up I can hit a 9 as my body is still rocking according to my husband. Day in and day out I’m probably a 7. At 42 I think I’m at my peak.

At my current weight? 2.

At my original weight? A cute 5-6.

I'm 50 and while I get all the points on the rubric 😁, I'm not sure I get many additional points. The men noticing me are all 65 plus. Now my 20 year old daughter, all men notice her, it's really crazy. Youth and beauty are so valued.

No, this is too generous, especially if you have some obvious issues (like a massive nose).

This is a funny question because I think men would rate me anywhere from 6-8.5 with my clothes on (I am a very specific type) again just compared to other women my age.

I think other women would put me at 5-7 max. I am definitely one of those women who is more attractive to men than other women.

I have terrible stretch marks and a wonky c-section scar so with no clothes on probably a 3.

I had a massive nose, and I got it fixed in my twenties. I still think genetics matter less than character traits as you get older. Many genetic issues can be fixed or downplayed.

I don’t know, but men would rate me much higher than women would because I am friendly and pretty with big boobs. Some men react with what I can only describe as childlike glee when they interact with me; I don’t know what’s going on with that. Mostly older gentlemen.

I’m married, who cares what men think anyway? I would much prefer to be the type of woman considered pretty and stylish by other women but this is not my fate.

I don’t know, I think a lot of men don’t care that much. My children were both walking and talking before my husband noticed my stretch marks. He said “hey, what’s going on there?” As if they had not been there for many years!

49 and I would rate myself a 7 for my age.

I'd rate 20 something me a 5. Had bad posture and late to braces.
