How attractive do you think men would rate you on a scale of 1-10?

Taking this question straight from the money forum today. What do you say, ladies?

I'd rate myself an 8 now, in my mid-40s, because I've taken care of myself and look pretty great relative to my peers. Probably a 6 in my teens and 20s. Everybody's hot at that age.

When I was 25 -- 9. Now, at 53? Probably a 5. Maybe a 7 on a good day if you are just looking at people my age.

Aging is rough.

If a 5 is the average woman....I'm probably a 5. I have a good body but not a pretty face. Sucks. But I'm also an LA 2 and a DC 5.

Similar for me. Relative to my peers, I look better now than ever because I've stayed in shape, lived a healthy lifestyle, and made enough money to afford good skin care, hair care and clothing.

I've got pretty healthy self-esteem and think I look good compared to the people I grew up with in my Midwest hometown. There, I'm probably a 7 or 8. I'm a DC 6. I'm an LA 2.

OP here. Surprised by the answers here. Posted after seeing these comments on the money forum:

Yes, but also selection in bias in who chooses to answer. Especially those who chose to answer first. And it is further magnified in that it is impolite to talk about money so a question on an anonymous forum lets people do so.

If someone asks in the Beauty forum, “How attractive do you think men would rate you on a scale of 1-10?”, what do you think the answers are going to look like?

Well, first, who is going to be reading that forum every time they’re scrolling DCUM? Clearly those who value physical attractiveness very highly and are constantly looking for tips and ideas. If it’s something they value and put the effort into, then they probably *will* be 8-pluses.

And second, the woman who believes she’d be rated a 4 is going to be less likely to post this after seeing that everybody else is an 8 or 9. But by definition, not everyone can be an 8+ in attractiveness.

It’s the same thing with the Money forum and explains why you have to take all the responses here with a big grain of salt."

I wonder how much of this is modesty and not wanting to give a number too high. I did that actually, when I posted the first reply to try and get things going (it worked!). Come on ladies this is anonymous; what do you REALLY think you are? I actually think I'm a 9, lol. Hate to prove that money commenter right but...

Are we comparing ourselves to women our age or to 18 year olds.

Compared to a gorgeous 18 year old, I'm a 1.

Compared to most women in their late 40s, I'm at least a 7.

Compared with the same-age (51) average for the whole country? Maybe a 6.5-7

Compared with same-age average for the DC area? 4

Compared with average for LA? 1

Definitely our same-age peers.

If you are over 45 and haven't gotten fat, you're at least a 5+ no matter what you were when you were younger.

So let's go with this rubric:

In shape? You start at 5.

Is hair styled and current (no mom cut and no gray)? +1
Do you attempt to wear clothes that fit and are reasonably current? +1
Do you wear some kind of makeup to accentuate better features? +0.5

So you're at an 7.5 if you're doing all of the above.

8-10 is reserved for genetic good looks.
