Where is the evidence of such a venture?
|
Show the links, the quotes the documentation that this is happening outside of your imagination. What is the timeline? How many teams will NWSL add to it's own league moving forward. What is the timeline for NWSL expansion? How many satellite GA clubs around NWSL clubs currently exist? What does this mean for your 2012 SYC kid? |
Only the academies are owned by teams an only the academies are a path to the pros |
Correct but where do you think the Acadamies recruit talent from? Ding ding ding the MLSn non Academy teams that they play against. |
| Yes, I think long-term MLSN and GA will be the premier compared to ECNL because more folks will try to chase the pro pathway. It also might be better suited for communities where college, which is what ECNL is about, isn't the end goal/not possible due to the high costs (relative to cumulative soccer costs). |
Why do you assume there needs to be a pro pathway for girls? College is the pro pathway. Many other sports work this way in the US. Football, baseball, basketball. Why should women’s soccer be different? Because that’s how things work in Europe? |
You watching what's happening with the Dartmouth men's basketball team and unionization? College sports and the NCAA might completely change in the next year. Aligning with a pro league might become the only way to go overnight. |
Correct. Women's soccer will work with youth clubs for the same reasons Men's clubs setup MLSn. |
| People have blinders on when it comes to whats happening with the NCAA and their anti-trust lawsuits. |
| ECNLs’s stinking out MLS needs to take over, girls/boys - find a way to organize Pro clubs don’t have to sponsor down, rather the opposite direction. When you develop the next M and trade him then you give back to the academy. |
Ding Ding, this is a class discussion folks. I would assume most folks posting are of a certain class that can afford pay to play. US Soccer knows to maximize talent in the US they need a model that doesn't miss players becuase they can't afford it. GA clubs especially some of the newest additions are community, grassroot, and localized in immigrant communities mainly. There is a reason GA families aren't flipping out about the big name clubs leaving, because those clubs clearly want to focus on competition in the strongest league for that, so let them to go to ECNL, we'll just replace them other clubs that are better aligned with our leagues mission. Only people insecure about GA's necessary role in the marketplace are ECNL families who are not seeing a return on their investment or are stuck in RL with prospects of going NL. |
Precisely, to compete with nations that are far better at this socccer development game and have clearly caught up. US Soccer is poorly run but they have demonstrated an understanding of whats going on globally. The Emma Hayes hiring is brillant because of her track record with Euro academies, she will be an amazing coach, and trust shes going to start poo pooing the college system that second she knows how pointless it is in producing world clas players. |
How many women make the USWNT, how many play in college? Do you think most girls would be better in a league that can place them on an ACC roster or an IVY roster or playing in a league that offers a remote chance at a pro career? |
This. It's not a pissing match between GA and ECNL. The whole scheme is about to change. |
Plenty of GA player on those rosters. What's your point? What you are missing, and not comparing here, just helping those disinformed be better informed, so that they are not misinformed. This is not a either or choice its academy development (pro-pathway eventually) and college. Feeling insecure about your ECNL investment? |
