| I think it is only fair to consider that a lot of the speculated cost is probably due to the security precautions that need to be taken -- for example, she had to pick a location that was not easily accessible and apparently had to truck in some fancy porta potties. I also assume that the number includes other massive security costs. |

I feel sick to see how much money people spend on such things.
My wedding was private, we offered a meal to close friends. Instead of gifts we asked our friends to donate the money to a charity in my home country. DH is a sales person and I'm a nanny. We live a very simple life and I just can't understand how come people spend so much while there's so many around us who need our hand. |

How much do you think the average wedding in the Hudson River Valley/Rhinebeck area costs? I think her wedding is right in the ballpark, and not excessive at all for that area.
And how do you know how much Jenna's wedding cost? |

Reports that I've heard at least are saying invites are based on being actual friends with the couple, not on political kickbacks/thank yous.
And good for Chelsea. Starting at probably the most awkward stage in her life, she's been in the public eye and behaved with nothing but grace and dignity. She deserves a wonderful wedding and a happy-ever-after. |

I didn't need to pay for security at my wedding. I didn't invite 400 people and STILL have it show up in the press that people were feeling slighted that they weren't invited.
(My dress wasn't vera wang, but it was in that category, so I hope she enjoys looking nice.) I wish there were less press coverage, but I do wish Chelsea well. |
