False dichotomy.

Huh?? What does this even mean? How do you know who has what citizenship and whatnot? Why are you even here if you hope your kids aren't pledging allegiance? Why don't you just go back to Russia or China or whatever your citizenship is?

Why would the PP go back to Russia or China? That makes no sense. Those countries might punish a person for not saying a pledge.

This country is great because we have strong values that enabled us to resist the theocratic forces that tried to force a loyalty pledge.

God Bless America!

The money he uses and asks you for says In God We Trust so I guess he isn't asking for anymore money?

No one uses cash anymore, Boomer.

You don’t make any sense.

And that was really your entire intent behind starting this thread. You just wanted to tell people "to go back where they came from." It isn't going to happen. We are here legally, naturalized citizens of this country and citizens by birth of another. I have no desire to recite the pledge to this country or any other. This blid nationalism has got to go. Spend your energy working on real issues such as lack of access to health care, or a living wage for all of our citizens instead of this BS.

Because kids aren't reciting a pledge? Read West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette sometime.

Exactly Pledging Allegiance is voluntary. What does it say about the state of our society when less than 7% of a class is willing to voluntarily pledge allegiance?

I don't know, what DOES it say? Kids aren't into empty gestures? They think pledging allegiance is something they do in North Korea?

I hear you OP- I agree the pledge doesn’t mean much, but I believe it means something.
Saying the pledge does not mean you don’t think there can’t be improvements made to the current status quo.

Not one person has said it does.

Not one person has said it does.

And if it's meaningful to you, no one is stopping you from saying it!

Ugh, as a high school teacher I hate it. It is so creepy to hear little robot children reciting it. I tell kids they may say it or they must be politely quiet for those who wish to say it, and am secretly relieved when they choose to stay seated and silent.

Hm… Was that your attitude during your naturalization ceremony, or were you just performing?

Why? Are you jealous you don't have one? I'm legally allowed to have dual citizenship and intend to keep both.
