And you wonder why teachers are quitting en masse... |
Beyond natural consequences like not getting your passport in time or something, literally no adult is punished like this for someone else missing a signature. |
| Was it a punishment or some kind of liability/authorization issue? If the first, yep I’d be pissed and escalating this. If the second, I’d still address it as inappropriate but have a little more grace. |
Well, OP couldn't be bothered to read all the papers and sign them (for a school that she's paying for!). So the teacher was on the right track with this. |
I'm not entitled. I'd left my reading glasses at work, and I was having a ridiculously hard time reading the small print. I take full responsibility for forgetting the glasses and missing the signature. It's all my fault, not my kid's. But it didn't happen because I'm entitled. |
| How many days has the teacher reminded them to get that signature - otherwise teacher is crazy, but always good to ask lots of follow up questions to your child if something sounds crazy... |
Maybe parents should teach children to behave in school and then they wouldn't lose recess. You email the principal and then you are one of those parents that the school hates. |
She hadn't reminded at all. We turned in the package the next day, three days before it was due. I have major anxiety problems revolving around shame, and I've been crying over this. I know they're off to a bad start now, and it's my fault. |
Are you illiterate? |
And I'm glad they are if they are taking away recess for anything much less for things that parents failed to do. Those kinds of teachers need to stay away from kids. |
No, she's right. |
+100 |
Kid didn't misbehave. Are you illiterate as well? |
Kid didn't double-check the forms to see that they're signed before turning in. Even my kids are able to do that. Now OP's DC knows to do it too. Unless OP emails the principal and snowplows this problem away. |
Then why didn't you send the child a note to give to the teacher telling her this,? Only an idiot has one pair of reading glasses. You can buy extras at the $ store for home, car, office, purse. Start using your head for something other than a hatrack! |
