About 100 protesters at the University of California, Davis, surrounded a venue attempting to disrupt an event Tuesday evening headlined by conservative personality and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. The event was organized by the school’s Turning Point chapter.

The protesters, who were mostly wearing black, clashed with law enforcement officers and other students, including attendees of the event, as they smashed windows, hurled eggs, used pepper spray and blocked people from entering the University Credit Union Center, where the event was held.

Gosh I hope the liberal intelligencia condemns this protest with the same fervor they have others.

One officer sustained an injury when he was jumped on from behind and pushed to the ground, and two people were arrested and taken to Yolo County Jail for allegedly painting graffiti on an exterior wall of the University Credit Union Center, or UCUC

The cowards of course covered their faces as much as possible. Isn’t the point of college to be have your beliefs challenged and at least allow others to be heard? Shameful.

Why? It's their right to protest. Whether you like it, or the issue, or not. Just like it's the right of MAGA idiots to stand on the corner disrupting my commute with their idiotic "stop the steal." I didn't like it but it is their right.

Once again - is it their right to jump LEOs, pepper spray others, break windows, vandalize, graffiti, block entrances, throw eggs and other projectiles? The irony of someone like you calling others "idiots" is just astounding.

And before you say "but these people were violent" - until GOP universally condemns 1/6 I don't wanna hear any complaints. Neither is right but you are not going to expect me to care if you don't. And 1/6 was worse. And I'll keep reminding you of that every time.

I don't know, ask the Jan. 6 folks. They did and it is not universally condemned. It's both or neither if you're going to be outraged. And so far, it's not.

Those all sound like pretty macro aggressions to me

I think the cops should give them a taste of their own medicine - throw an egg? That’s assault. It sure would be if Charlie Kirk threw an egg at one of them.

As with children of any age, if no one imposes cost you will get more bad behavior.

They look and act an awful lot like those at the front of the line on 1/6.

So you maintain these protesters were simply standing their with signs?

My guess would be that they are law school students at UC-Davis.
This seems to be their preferred behavior these days.

Let’s be intellectually honest.

“Free speech” is an illusion used by the white lower strructure.

We need to jettison this concept, and be honest about power/ who has power and who is going to get more power and who will have less.
Anonymous
Sorry, what do you mean by “white lower [structure]” in your second sentence?

This was not free speech

January 6 was two years ago. Every Republican I know was appalled by the behavior, we and they are so tired of the what aboutism that seems to occur every time anti free speech activists act like this or worse.

We absolutely should allow hate speech. Hate speech is a term thrown around by others to put down ANY speech they disagree with!

Naw, not Charlie Kirk. I mean, I guess it would be better to have no reaction and let him speak to an empty room or something but Kirk is an enemy of the state who has actively worked to undermine American democracy. So it makes sense that democracy-loving patriots would make their feelings known about his presence. He’s a vile piece of shit who no one would cry for if he dropped dead today of an aneurysm.

"Democracy-loving patriots" who spray graffiti, break windows, jump police officers, throw eggs and other objects, block entrances, and pepper spray others? You have a very interesting definition of "democracy-loving patriots."

Meanwhile, Republicans are busy trying to rewrite Jan. 6 history. You have already gone on record as endorsing these sorts of activities (you left out dropping a deuce in statutory hall).

And the what abouts come in to excuse this behavior because of an event two weeks years ago!

You people just love oversimplifying, muddling and conflating. The people who smashed windows and sprayed graffiti are not "democrats." They are black bloc anarchocommunists. Democrats believe in government and institutions, anarchocommunists do not.

They are widely divergent on most issues, and only have a handful in common, for example they both oppose fascism.

The bolded above is completely false. Most Republicans are still trying to whitewash, deny and deflect from it rather than owning up to it and accepting responsibility.
