That's not what that Bill is going to do. You folks are extreme and constantly living in fear of an imaginary boogeyman. How do you make it through life pretending to be a victim all the time? |
Read the damn bill y’all. There is nothing in it about black fraternities and sororities. This is pure speculation. Yes the bill is a joke, but social organizations are not on the chopping block. Unless their main purpose is studying CRT, which I can assure you it is not lol. |
Read the texts. Historically black frats and sororities advocate for diversity - it’s in their founding documents and charters. They would be banned under the new law from being a beneficiary of any university spending for “advocating” for diversity:
Such organizations could not operate on campus in any capacity because that would benefiting from university spending. No use of conference rooms, hanging a flyer, putting up a table in the quad, etc. |
wow. i had a great time at my HBCU. graduated as did all of my peers. classes were full. teachers were great and supportive. cost of schooling was lower than surrounding publics. - signed white female who attended HBCU because it was closer and less expensive as a non-traditional student (returned to finish last 2 years at 25) but got 1360 on the SAT and 32 act as a senior in HS. community college was more expensive and was a terrible investment. |
It's not just black fraternities. Every national fraternity and national service organization would be banned under this. Any employer with a DEI statement would be barred from recruiting on campus. I'm guessing that enforcement will be very selective and will ultimately result in very expensive settlements |
There should be no problem with language carving out fraternities, sororities and service organizations, right? Right? Jesus, the willful ignorance here is astounding. |
How do you make it through life pretending white racism doesn't exist and isn't reemerging as a threat to a huge portion of the US population? |
As written, this would ban a lot of campus groups… College Republicans, Young Democrats, any environmental action type clubs, etc etc. But does it actually ban them from existing on campus, or just prohibit them from state/gov funding? There’s a big difference. |
Schools "may not expend any state or federal funds to promote, support, or maintain any programs or campus activities that:" That means, at the very least, no use of facilities at all and it's doubtful that the organizations could be school sanctioned it probably also means that the school would lose all ability to regulate their conduct |
No. It means they can charge rent--just like Fairfax County schools charges for use. |

Specifically it’s rich coming from the party of “You will not replace us!” |
It depends on how Florida courts interpret support and maintain. |
What is so bad about exclusively Black or exclusively White/Asian/Hispanic fraternities? If people just want to be around their own kind, what harm is there? |
No just the ones that do not make payments to DeSantis presidential fund. |
