Wooten HS good/bad?

I know children who graduated from schools like Rockville, Magruder, Sherwood, and QO who have gone to elite colleges and universities and onto law and medical school. If you lack confidence that your children can excel unless you overpay for a house, then that's fine.

This poster always says the same batsh*t crazy stuff re. property values.

I would want my kids in very good schools, normally 8/10 and higher but I know it’s a W school so let me know if it’s bette than the rating suggests.

GS ratings are misleading. It would be best if you looked a little deeper. For example, the county released SAT averages by high-school and demographic cohort a few years back, which helps understand the real academic opportunity in light of demographic variation, or Bethesda Beat which publishes college admissions by school.

I hear SATs are nothing but a show of prepping so that's why colleges are going test optional.

Then maybe MCPS will end up with two good schools instead of one

ok, sure, but the point is that OP should be aware that they may not end up at Wootton in the end.

OP, don't listen to the private schools parents and wannabes from other jurisdictions. Wootton is a very good school but it's a pressure cooker; one of the 2 most pressure cookers schools in the DMV.

I don't think private school parents come here to bash Wootton but the parents from other MCPS schools sure love to beat down Wootton (or any of the W schools).

My friend whose kids go there says it's a pressure cooker and is always complaining about safety issues.

Just as W parents like to bash any non W school in MCPS.

Case in point: see 11:28 " All others are sh*tty"

It is a high pressure environment. Noone doubts that. Safety? Compare to other schools? I'd still go with Wootton. But I don't blame your friend for worrying about kid's safety. All parents do (or should).

LOL. That was my post. Not Wootton family, sadly. My kids actually went to RMIB and PHS. We are in Germantown but have had family members attended Wootton over the years. We've been living inMoCo over 30 years and raised 3 kids. I think I know the school system pretty well.

dp.. I'm thinking the safety issues has to do with the building and not necessarily the student body. The building is falling apart and has mold issues.
