53% avg ELA proficiency for grades 3–8.

great to be front of the pack, mcps

That is SO bad. And incredibly disheartening. Is it simply due to demographic changes, or is there more to it? And, why isn't MCPS discussing this? I'd like to see some media coverage of these abysmal results, if anyone out there has access to a media outlet.

MCPS spends an obscene amount of money per pupil - is this the best MCPS has to offer?

algebra 1 proficiency rate is only 20% in mcps, very impressive.

It’s irritating that we still don’t have results for our students.

Am I reading this correctly that only 7% of 8th graders are proficient in Math (in the whole state of MD)?

But everyone on dcum is 99th percentile so this doesn’t apply to the dcum community does it?

Well, not really; it's 31%, according to the random people who simply made up this test. It's not like anyone ever took it and got over 50% anywhere. It's just a bad test the state made up and is now pushing on kids. They need to go back to the PARC which at least was reliable and you could see how our state compared with others.

Well then how do you explain other counties doing consistently better?

I’m pretty sure that if it was PARCC, the retails would be almost just as bad.

These results are horrible, but there is so much going on behind this.

One issue is test stamina. Once a year, kids have to sit for days on end of 3/4 hour blocks of testing. In the post-pandemic world stamina (both physical and mental) to do that is entirely lacking.

There's also district testing on top of this state testing. Not to mention regular class tests.

I don't think this volume of testing is sustainable.
