Golden Goose

I saw them for first the first time in the wild last Christmas (it takes a while for trends to trickle down where I live) on my snobby niece and I couldn’t believe the hype.

I don't get how people wearing very obvious status symbols comment on "I always get compliments" when I wear them. Bravo, you bought the thing that is trendy and now people who know the thing are observing that you follow trends.

A compliment is kind of worthless unless it's a response to and actual creative decision or unique find, in my opinion.

Forgive me, I know I’m supposed to recognize how much people spent, but I actually find them quite ugly?

I read an article in the Times about how they are made. It was actually fascinating how meticulously they attended to every detail. These are not factory made in Vietnam shoes—hence the high price. I don’t love the aesthetic, but I have a lot more respect for their craftsmanship now.

The one person I know who wears them likes to call other people “mediocre.” Lol.

They’re great. However, they were very right now about three years ago...

People on this board love to talk about new vs old money. Anyway to me this is the epitome of new money.

Why would anyone buy dirty looking sneakers

I would spend that much in a heartbeat, but not for shoes that already look worn out!!

I’ll spend money on a an item intentionally broken in, but not for a logo or instantly recognizable one.

I get that, but it is a casual sneaker. It won’t have a longer life than a less expensive sneaker, no matter how “well made” it is.

At least with a leather boot or leather heel if you spend $500 for something high quality, you can polish them over and over to keep the leather in great condition and resole them over and over. Great boots or heels with proper care can last a decade. A sneaker you can’t polish or resole and are wearing regularly will have a relatively short life

I think these were stylish about 10 years ago, but now they are very much a cliche - we all have a try hard middle class neighbor who spent some of her husband's bonus on a YSL cross body and golden goose sneakers. The moms who work spend their own bonus on a Neverfull for work.

Megan Fox put these on the map. She still wears them everywhere.

Are you posting from 2015?

No, I see a ton of women wearing them around Arlington.

Arlington isn’t exactly a fashion Mecca.
