They are deconstructed but comfortable.

I don’t know what to say.

Np. I just laughed when I saw those! I don’t even know if they’re real.

Deconstructed shoes… lol

I saw them at Saks and I was thinking "dirty dad sneakers are in?"

Pp here who owns the New Balance 2002rs. After I bought mine I found out that my neighbor has the blue pair. What can I … we say?

That you're too lazy to dirty up your own sneakers. You have to have someone else do it for you? WTAF?

Thought "oh that color combo is exactly what I need for an upcoming trip with lots of walking".
Imagine my shock to google "sneaker with star logo" and find out (a) they are $600 (WTAF??); (b) they are viewed (at least on DCUM) as tacky nouveau riche; and (c) they are now out of style. And here I was thinking that dropping $150 on a pair of Vajes on sale was an extravagant purchase . . .

Can I just say that I rarely wear stupidly expensive things, but when I do there are few things more irritating than someone who asks about them and then makes a face (I don’t know if you did). Or worse, asks how much they cost or where I bought them and then makes a face about that.

If you’re going to interrupt a stranger to ask an intrusive question, make sure to keep your reaction to yourself. I’m sure OP did, this is just a PSA.

She googled the info. Reading is fundamental.

Are you posting from 2015?

No, I see a ton of women wearing them around Arlington.

Arlington isn’t exactly a fashion Mecca.

Agreed. Certainly not women of the city. Cross the bridge and style plummets.

Are these things still popular? I feel like they have disappeared from Los Angeles.

+1 They haven't been in style for several years now. Super dated looking. I'd rather wear my APLs or even Vejas.

They are really well-made. They’re comfortable and feel and wear like leather booties. And the positive of them being scuffed up means you can wear them for several years (10+) and they will be in the same condition as opposed to other sneakers that are cheaper but will only last one season as they need to be kept in pristine condition to look “nice”, so they hold their value in that way. I have 3 but will never buy another one as they serve their purpose in my shoe collection and will last decades.

I wouldn’t even know what I was looking at. What do they look like and how are they any different from Nike or New Balance or Reebok?

Do you really want to be wearing these dated things in a decade though? They're already out of style.

In other words, someone told you that it's ok to wear one brand scuffed but not the other? Fool ==> money.

I think the issue is gg give the opposite of that vibe. They epitomize “I care very much what people think”. I don’t even mind those basic trends that can easily read suburban mom (neverfull, Cartier love) but for some reason gg just looks so try hard.

I mean they are just sneakers. I chose 2 simple classic styles and one glittery. Sneakers don’t really go out of style. I’ve had so many sneakers that I’ve had to get rid of over the years because they just look trashed and I still sometimes stress about the currently “in style” white sneakers clean which will need to go soon too. Sneakers don’t go out of style and I don’t have to worry about the condition of these so at some point it is actually an investment
