I dont get it either. What is appealing about them? |

I had no idea these sneakers even existed until tonight when I saw a really cute black, tan and white pair out on a woman at the next table at dinner (am down in the Carolinas on vacation).
Thought "oh that color combo is exactly what I need for an upcoming trip with lots of walking". Imagine my shock to google "sneaker with star logo" and find out (a) they are $600 (WTAF??); (b) they are viewed (at least on DCUM) as tacky nouveau riche; and (c) they are now out of style. And here I was thinking that dropping $150 on a pair of Vajes on sale was an extravagant purchase . . . |
Can I just say that I rarely wear stupidly expensive things, but when I do there are few things more irritating than someone who asks about them and then makes a face (I don’t know if you did). Or worse, asks how much they cost or where I bought them and then makes a face about that. If you’re going to interrupt a stranger to ask an intrusive question, make sure to keep your reaction to yourself. I’m sure OP did, this is just a PSA. |
| I would easily pay 500 for shoes but give me some fancy adidas or nikes. The GG are just ugly and gross. |
+1 And refer them to lesser shoes: "oh, you might like ($50. pair of whatevers here)". But don't you live in a tiny house and lease a new Range Rover every year? Impressive? |
| They are huge in South Carolina right now but they don’t have a great track record on…anything. |
| If this were 10 years ago, you might be in style, but now? It makes you look tacky |
| The worst human I know wears GG sneakers and everyone makes comments about it (not in a good way). |

I have a pair of these and I’m quite happy:
https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/product/new-balance-2002rd-lace-up-sneakers-0400014733067.html They are deconstructed but comfortable. |
And in Charlotte, North Carolina. All the rage amongst the high school girls and their mothers at my nephew’s private school. Big logos, big SUVs, and overpriced dirty sneakers. |
I don’t know what to say. |
Np. I just laughed when I saw those! I don’t even know if they’re real. Deconstructed shoes… lol |
I saw them at Saks and I was thinking "dirty dad sneakers are in?" |
| Just wear what you want. This is dumb. I could not care less what people think about my shoes and how much I pay for them. |
