why don't they split it into 2 nights like Gonzaga does? 9/10th grade one night, 11th/12th another. Problem solved.

This would definitely be one of the logical alternatives (but also increases the cost with needing to rent and pay for certain things twice).

I don’t blame the school for making the prudent call of not packing thousands of children - from a school where one student murdered another student and they had to close for fear of gang retaliation - into one venue. But, I do blame City and ACPS “leadership” for their “one high school at all costs” disaster.

So many issues plaguing ACHS could be alleviated with the opening of a second high school. Would love to see some people run for school board on that platform. Why are Alexandrians still kidding ourselves about this “unified” one connected high school mess?

Rediculous. Where's the equity in this?! Maybe this is why high while are typically half the size. Alexandria needs to get it together.

My dc wasn't able to go to their Arlington County high school hoco dance. It sold out during the first few lunch periods. I agree that this is not equitable.

My DD also missed out on getting tickets for the W&L dance. Tickets sold out fast. She had been planning her outfit - it was a major disappointment.

If schools don’t have enough tickets for an entire high school, they should make the event for certain upper grades only, kind of like prom.

My high school had over 4k kids and we didn't have this problem. We all whined about it being at a county convention center, but that was the only venue large enough.

OP where are you hearing this? My kids is on the planning committee for homecoming and had not heard this. It's also not in any FAQs
