I'm voting for Blair.
And I hope Hans stays in the race. I think if he were to drop out (he won't) the majority of those votes would go to Elrich. Those 2 can split the progressive vote and let the moderate Ds vote for Blair |
| Voting for BLair. Also hope Hans splits Elrich's votes and he loses big. |
| I'm not even moderate but I'm voting for Blair. He's dead right on the business environment and jobs here. We can't have progressive programs (that I support) if we don't have money to fund them because all the jobs are in VA and DC. Elrich and Reimer have both presided over the decline of business here, so I won't vote for either one of them. |
|
I’ve never understood why so many liberals hate Riemer. I kind of get why conservatives do, except that I don’t understand the ones that hate Riemer more than Elrich.
In a perfect world, I’d vote for Riemer. But I’m first-and-foremost voting against Elrich, and I think Blair has the better chance at this point. |
Wow, the evil developers! Heaven forbid anyone build multi-unit housing in Montgomery County, an aging and declining county when housing is getting built west of the Potomac! Those developers are so greedy! |
I hope you are right. But I don't expect a good turnout this year. For a lot of reasons.
|
Developers are greedy. That much is true. We need them to build housing but the problem with Hans is he’s so focused on developers making money that he’s only helped them boost their profit margins while housing production has plunged to record lows and prices have soared. That’s Riemer’s track record. I don’t know why anyone believes he’ll fix housing when his track record says otherwise. Blair is right about the county needing job growth above all else, and Riemer’s frequent dishonesty and flip-flopping make it impossible for me to trust him. I’m voting for Blair. |
The problem with Riemer is he’s a liar and doesn’t stand for anything (except for subsidies for companies). Just yesterday he put up no fight and voted to scale back the new Silver Spring plan. Had this not been an election year, he definitely would have voted differently. |
He’s shady AF. To his office’s credit they tend to be responsive to constituents- several times when I’ve emailed the entire council his office was the only one to respond. But ultimately it is empty words and no real action. He stands for everything and nothing at the same time. |
It’s hurts his narrative and his TPSS brown shirts when multi-racial Silver Spring communities have risen up in unified opposition. His brown shirts even intentionally took over neighborhood associations to block organized opposition but this outcome clearly demonstrates where the politics are on whether these multi-racial communities agree that SFH is racist and he and his white buddies (and one Black guy) repeatedly claim are necessary for racial justice. It’s funny to see them confronted with this and claim that it’s false consciousness, which is the hilariously ridiculous urbanist fall back when confronted with that fact that people don’t want to live with their aesthetic. Because it really just comes down to an aesthetics, which explains the lying and projection. If it wasn’t an election year and Riemer didn’t need these peoples votes, he would’ve have done what he’s always done in these cases, he would have made some bald faced lies to the community. Claimed that their concerns will be addressed in subsequent actions at a later date and then walked away and take no responsibility for outcomes. The guy lacks integrity and he really needs to go and find a new career path. He got a 12 year job he did poorly because he was “Obama’s campaign youth organizer” 6 months. Such is the power of incumbency and TPSS block voting. |
Yup. This is 100% true. It’s also very telling to me that Blair is actually focused on how to revitalize DTSS and all Hans wants to talk about is “density along the purple line and 355”, meaning promoting development not in his backyard and further subsidizing and juicing developer profits in the only places that developers are currently only interested to build because it’s already profitable. |
| Hans Riemer voter here; PP is correct that I don't consider Blair a real Democrat & am disenchanted with Elrich. I think it's great that Riemer is doing public financing. |
A “real Democrat” as opposed to who? Henry Cuellar who is anti-abortion and an “A” rating from the NRA? Nancy Pelosi tell me me that Cuellar is a real Democrat and by that standard, it makes Blair a “liberal” Democrat. Hell, Blair is more liberal than half of Maryland’s Congressional delegation. You don’t realize how ridiculous you sound. |
|
Blair is a real Democrat. A mainstream Democrat. He's not a progressive. Thank goodness. Here in the county, progressives own the politicians, and use any means necessary to destroy systems in the name of antiracism without having any suggestions for effective alternatives.
I'd have WAY more respect for the defund police movement if they were also actively provided an effectively community safety framework. And they don't. They just want police gone. Mental health supports aren't it. Almost none of the violent crime has mental health issues as an underlying cause. Look at the Magruder shooting. The defendant was referred for evaluation and there is nothing remarkable in terms of special needs or mental health or abuse or anything. He just shot Dre, leaving him on life support for three weeks, 9 surgeries, and a colostomy bag. No wellness center was going to ever stop that. People and politicians need to support policing. They need to make sure it's good, constitutional, just policing. |
Would Blair be more of a real democrat in your view if he lied as much as Riemer does? |
