| Absolutely do not contact your insurance company. |
Hhhmmm...I don't know. I normally would go to my insurance company because I would want them to go after the shade company, and my insurance company would do that after they replaced the windows. You may be right though that your rate would go up. An alternative is to have the window company come out and give you an estimate for the repair (doesn't sound possible) and replacement. That arms you with the information you need when you go to the shade company directly. Honestly, the dollar value seems enough that you may need to get a lawyer involved anyway. |
Basically the glass panes have a vinyl frame, which then have a wood frame around them. I don't know much about vinyl, but imagine that screw holes damage the structural integrity, and that the holes would not be easily concealed. The vinyl is manufactured white, it isn't painted. |
| Op, I can’t imagine what you are talking about. Can you post a photo or a link please? |
Here is a stock photo of a window like ours:https://imgur.com/Elowexh The white material surrounding the glass is vinyl, and should not be drilled into. The wood surrounding the white is what blinds/shades are supposed to be mounted to. Our installer mounted to the white part, which is part of the structure of the window and is not strong enough to hold shades. |
I can’t see how the holes would cause a structural problem. They’ll probably be hidden by the shades anyway, but you could also just fill them with a little putty filler and then get paint matched to the color or just use white and call it good enough. I understand if you are mad about the damage and want the store to pay up, that’s one thing, but it doesn’t sound like a big problem in terms of actual consequences. |
Why would you do all that when somebody destroyed your windows and you paid them a lot of money. Go after the blinds company. They make you pay in full before they even start. They should be held accountable for their work. |
It doesn’t sound like the windows are destroyed, it sounds like they have small holes in the trim. |
| Even if it’s possible that the windows aren’t destroyed or the warranty hasn’t been invalidated, the Shade Company should at least send someone to come over and fix them. It’s not your problem to fix. It’s theirs. |
| Can anybody recommend a blind company that they are happy with the quality and install? |
I got shades I like from Select Blinds but I installed them myself. I really don’t know why you would need them installed for you but if you don’t have time you could get any handyman, friend, neighbor or relative to do it. |
I physically cannot install blinds. The problem with handyman is I am not sure if he knows to do a good job in living room. I had one handyman do the bathroom and the blinds are not centered. Hence I just want to go with a company that can do the measure and install. |

Would you really call your neighbor over to install your blinds for you??? I installed my blinds myself and it was a pain. This is something you have to pay someone to do. |
