They're not "upmarket" they just have a different business model.

I thought Hunter Douglas was similar price and quality? I just got a quote from Shade Store - it wasn't cheap, but for the features we want they aren't that much more expensive than the Home Depot nicer cellulars (esp considering that they measure and install)..works out to about $75 more per window, and we're only doing 8 windows. I'm leaning towards just paying for them.

Is it worth it to get a Hunter Douglas quote somewhere? They don't have any convenient distributors. Someone posted that Home Depot carries them, but I don't see the brand online.

I got my Hunter Douglas ones through a local franchise called Gotcha Covered - I think they have a few in the DC area. They were pretty good to work with (though I feel like there can't be that much differentiation among distributors).

PP here. I am planning to go with them. I visited a hunter Douglas store and they seemed as clueless as everyone else and were missing the one sample I was interested in. I do recommend checking your shade store quote carefully. We found an error in one selection. However I can’t find any other stores that offer the same quality product at a better price or better service

PP here. I am planning to go with them. I visited a hunter Douglas store and they seemed as clueless as everyone else and were missing the one sample I was interested in. I do recommend checking your shade store quote carefully. We found an error in one selection. However I can’t find any other stores that offer the same quality product at a better price or better service

Ok thanks! Maybe I got a bad measuring person. The measurements seem way off - like wider than the entire frame for an inside mount. I guess it's on them to replace, but it would be better if this didn't drag on for several more months.

Turns out the measurements were for the wrong mounting spot, so they’re sending someone out again. Watch out for mistakes.

Agree it’s not exactly the service you’d expect for the price but they all suck!

Turns out the measurements were for the wrong mounting spot, so they’re sending someone out again. Watch out for mistakes.
