Can you call a window company to figure out the total repair costs? Tell the blind company to reimburse you.
is there any chance I can actually get them to pay for that? Would cost well over $10k.
NP. I would give it my best shot. That is a pretty big mistake and forever damages the integrity of your windows. There is no fix except replacement. What does your insurance company say?
OP here, I hadn’t thought to contact my insurance company because I don’t want my premium to go up. Wouldn’t I be better off going directly to window companies?
Hhhmmm...I don't know. I normally would go to my insurance company because I would want them to go after the shade company, and my insurance company would do that after they replaced the windows. You may be right though that your rate would go up. An alternative is to have the window company come out and give you an estimate for the repair (doesn't sound possible) and replacement. That arms you with the information you need when you go to the shade company directly. Honestly, the dollar value seems enough that you may need to get a lawyer involved anyway.
