He's a senior. College essays were six months ago. |
Thank you for this name; you did my research for me. I now know who to follow and support. When I get those annoying polling calls (at least 2 per week), I will note this. |
He is easily the most progressive candidate in the race. |
Oh yikes |
If this is your view on things, I would suggest you vote for Matt Frumin. Frumin is slightly less conservative than Goulet, but he has a much stronger record of being involved in, and getting things done in Ward 3 on schools, affordable housing, and more. He hits the sweet spot of being competent and not being too liberal. |
What does "slightly less conservative" mean? |
Come on PP. Name this candidate and explain what you are insinuating. |
There is a particular CP resident who used to be on the ANC who is obsessed with where a particular ANC 3C commissioner lives as well as the guy who heads the CP Smart Growth group and she spends a lot of time trying to smear both of them on DCUM. Guessing she's been blocked over the years so is trying to steer clear of that happening again by not naming him. |
Oh for Pete's sake. Stop dancing around this. Now you've made it clear that the candidate is Beau Finley. Can you clarify what the actual allegation against him is, and whether there is any reason to believe it is true? |
He owns a second home on the Chesapeake. The stalker insists it's his primary residence. |
Can he possibly be worse than Brandon Todd or Brianne Nadeau? I would just be concerned that he’s going to college out of state or would be too overwhelmed with college. |
His dad was our ANC commissioner a few years ago. Level headed guy, pretty anti-NIMBY and pro-housing and pro-transit. Got the sense that he knew his kids were going to turn out fine in DCPS and a little exposure to the world was better than privates. Kid seems pretty smart too and a bit like the old man. |
I agree that Frumin knows about the Ward 3 school overcrowding issue the best, but he's clearly pandering to the lunatic Foxhall crowd by saying in his campaign materials that he wants to "rethink" the idea of a new elementary school (i.e., he's not in favor of it) and limit the new high school to 750 students. But all the other candidates basically just say "we need to do something about the overcrowding" and then don't provide any specifics about how that might happen. And that might be a worse form of pandering, because it shows they don't really care about it, it's just a box they're checking in their "how to woo Ward 3 voters" handbook. |

I'm sure a child knows everything one needs to know about development, historic preservations, environmental concerns, traffic, early childhood education, etc., etc., etc.
All this kid is doing is mocking the real needs and concerns of our citizens to pad a college resume. One of the ANCs had a kid run unopposed, and then the kid moved away to college. Not a thing was done for the neighorhood until the next election. This isn't a game. |
I don't think that is pandering at all. 1) advocates from across the city want good schools across the city. Holding seats in a transit hostile location, forcing out of boundary kids to travel more than an hour each way is not a winning solution. 2) There is enough space to right size the campus after opening it. So why not start at a size the campus could handle without too much hassle and see how it goes in a few years? 3) With the new elementary school, Stoddert families do not want to be rezoned to it...it would be a huge hassle. So, while it might appear to be pandering to the local Foxhall community, there are actually sound reasons why this makes sense, and none of it has to do with pandering. |
